Athirappily Waterfalls
Athirapilly Falls, famous for its waterfalls, is a popular picnic spot located at a distance of 60 km from Thrissur city, at the entrance of Sholayar ranges of Western Ghats. Originating from the deep forests of Sholayar ranges, Athirapilly Falls plummets from a height of about 24 m to the rocky bed of River Chalakkudy.
Guruvayur Sri Krishna TempleGuruvayur Sri Krishna Temple is one of the sacred pilgrim spots in South India, known as 'Bhooloka Vaikuntam' and 'Dwarka of the South'. As per legends, the presiding idol, Lord Krishna (Vishnu) of Guruvayur Sri Krishna Temple is about 5000 years old. This idol originally belonged to the Lord Krishna Temple of the holy city of Dwaraka, which submerged into the sea. Guru Bruhaspathi and Lord Vayu were left with the task of finding a new abode for this idol, until they discovered a site on the banks of River 'Rudratheertha'.

Peechi Dam Peechi Dam, 23 km from Thrissur is the main irrigation project of the city, What started as an irrigation project has now burgeoned into a popular picnic spot ,which offers boating facilities at the reservoir.The forest around the reservoir was lush green. Bible towerThe Bible Tower, situated in Thrissur, Kerala is the tallest church tower in Asia. It can be seen from anywhere in the Thrissur town. The tower, which is about 260 feet tall, was inaugurated on January 7, 2007. His Excellency Most Reverend Dr Pedro Lopez Quintana dedicated the Bible tower for World Peace.The foundation stone of the Shrine Basilica of Our Lady of Dolours was laid on 21 December 1929, by Mar Francis Vazhappilly, the Late Bishop of Thrissur. Another bell tower in the back of the church reaches 79.248 meters (260 feet).
Vadakkumnathan TempleVadakkumnatha Temple, located in the heart of Thrissur city, is one of the oldest temples of Kerala. Built in typical traditional Kerala style of architecture, Vadakkumnatha Kshetram is decorated with murals and sculptures. Situated amidst Tekkinkadu (Forest of Teak trees) ground, atop a hillock, Vadakkumnatha Kshetram overlooks the city of Thrissur.The stone wall which encloses the temple and its premises consists of about 9 acres of land. The principal shrine of this temple has four lofty gopuras and an enclosed complex.

State museum and ZooThrissur Zoo & Museum, started functioning sometime in 1885 is located right at the heart of Thrissur 2km from town, around 13.5 acres of the compound with a variety of fauna like the lion tailed macaque, sloth bear, species of birds and deer. The snake park has a reptilian collection of King Cobras, Cobras, Python, Kraits, Vipers and Rat Snakes. Interestingly there is a public road across the zoo which separates the zoo into two! To reach the rear section, you need to cross an over bridge across the road.

Over forty elephants are groomed at the Punnathoor Kotta ( kotta means fort). Many elephants are brought as ritual offering to the temple. You can spend a whole day with these huge mammals here.Watching the naughty baby elephants' playful antics is an entertaining experience. The place provides you an opportunity to watch how the sick elephants are medically treated in the traditional manner. One can also watch the training given to the elephants for various ritualistic performances.

Archaeological MuseumArchaeological Museum situated in the city of Thrissur, Kerala, is a part of the state zoo compound. The archaeological gallery was attached to the already existing art gallery, in the year 1948. Later, the galleries were shifted to a new building in the year 1975. The sanctuary is endowed with scenic beauty beyond compare. Living here in joyful abandon are elephants, sambars, gaurs, Malabar squirrels, sloth bears etc.
