Target for eco-driving at SJ
– on time with lowest possible consumption
Do not go faster than needed to reach next stop on time
X2, X55 and X40 mainly uses regenerative brakes to decelerate (if on time)
Conventional trains with mechanical brakes only, using air resistance to loose it’s
top speed (if on time)

Eco-driving with electrical multiple units
If the arrival time can be met – apply only the regenerative brakes
– Gives higher passenger comfort
– Reduce wear
– Recover kinetic energy

Eco-driving with conventional locomotive Rc6
(no electric brakes) using air resistance to
decelerate
Coasting 160 – 115 km/h regain 50% of
the kinetic energy
– Reduce wear on brakes
– Recovery of a high share of the energy at
high speed
– Small share of kinetic energy in low speed
– Gives higher passenger comfort

What is TrAppen?
TrAppen is a complete drivers work tool.
TrAppen has an on-time DAS.
TrAppen is built for Android tablets and smartphones.
TrAppen’s GPS uses GPS/GLONASS and kilometer waypoints.
Built for trains with regenerative brakes.
On time using minimal top speed and with regenerative brakes only.
Conventional locomotive Rc6 use air resistance to decelerate and arrive on time.

How does TrAppen calculate recommended
speed och comfort brake?
Location
Distance
When and where the next stop is
Waypoints
Deceleration ~0,6 m/s² to reach next stop on time - ”Comfort braking point”.
Recommended average speed
