PUMP THOSE AIR BRAKESEvery driver of a bus with air brakes is responsible for pumping down the brakes every time the bus is parked. Failure to complete this process each time you park, could result in the parking brake NOT setting resulting in the bus rolling and causing damage and/or serious injury. By performing the mandatory air brake pump down, you are ensuring the brake will set, eliminating the possiblity of the bus rolling once you have exited the vehicle.

LCPS Helps the Sheriff’s Office! In the early morning hours of Wednesday, January 31st, a woman was found wandering door-to-door in the area of W. Ivy Avenue in Sterling. In hopes of finding someone who could identify her, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office posted a picture of the individual.

Rhonda Alfred, who is an LCPS bus driver, saw the posted picture and immediately recognized the woman. Within 3 minutes of Rhonda contacting the Sheriff’s Office, the woman was identified and reunited with her family.

Transportation Director, Michael Brown met with Rhonda to personally thank her for her quick action that helped the Sheriff’s Office to both identify the woman and reunite her with her family.

Thanks to Rhonda, this story had a very happy ending.
