About us

NIT U�arakhand also builds links withpeer universi�es and ins�tutes, to en-hance research and enrich its educa�-onal programmes. Experts from vario-us IITs, NITs, and industries are invited to deliver expert lectures to exposethe students to basic and advancedconcepts. An Expert Lecture on Bridge Engineering was delivered by Prof. R. K. Ingle in the department of civil

engineering. Lecture described the causes of bridge failure, design factors and design

methodologies. Analysis of bridges was also done using SAP 2000 so�ware.

Department of Computer Science and Engineering

The Department of computer science and engineering is an integral part of na�onal ins�tute oftechnology, U�arakhand. The department came into existence in 2010 and therea�er has beenimpar�ng significant contribu�on in the growth of the ins�tute. The department is equipped withlatest computers including worksta�ons with Intel Xeon processors and two powerful servers fromdell and IBM. The department has got good mixture of fresh as well as experienced facul�es forfostering quality educa�on to students. Na�onal Ins�tute of Technology U�arakhand (NITU�arakhand) held its first convoca�on on Monday,14th March, 2016. The convoca�on ceremony felici-tated the outgoing batch of the Under Graduate Pr-ogramme who graduated in the year 2014 and year2015. The ins�tute organized its first convoca�on inthe temporary campus at Govt. Polytechnic, Srinagar(Garhwal), U�arakhand. Shri K. Ravi Kumar, Ex-Chai-rman and Managing Director, BHEL was the chief guest of the firstconvoca�on.

Samiksha- The Society of Civil Engineering, KODESK(The Programming Club) and Q&A Club. Prodyogee-ky 17 witnessed a major crowd in the compe��onssuch as Tower Making and Bridge Designing. Mechanism based events suchas Catapult, Water Rocket Launching and Hydraulic Model Designing and Designing based events likeMATLAB, SCADA, CAD Modelling and Proteus wereorganised successfully. Clubs at NIT Uttarakhand

Perhaps the most popular club of the Ins�tute, Klick-the Photography Club has groomed many a photogra-pher. The club began func�oning under the guidanceof the eminent photographer Shri Threesh Kapoorand has seen students take up the reins wholly sincethen, conduc�ng regular classroom and outdoorsessions for its members, organizing PhotographyWorkshops and covering all the events organized inthe Ins�tute throughout the academic year.The Ins�tute Calendar for the year 2015 with the

theme " Amazing Srinagar" was shot in part by the members of Klick, which was a ma�er of pride for the Club and from then every year the Ins�tute calendar is shot by the members of Klick. Thetheme of the calendar for the year 2018 is "Ci�es of U�arakhand". The Ins�tute has also subscrib-ed to magazines like Na�onal Geographic, Na�onal Geographic Traveler, onely Planet, etc. fordeveloping a taste for photography in interested students.

Students of NIT U�arakhand jointly made efforts to establish the Literary Society the Literary Club(formerly called Literac�vity) of the Ins�tute. This club was established with an aim to be the nodalbody for all literary ac�vi�es in the Ins�tute. The club organizes regular sessions on poetry recita�on, debate, wri�ng, etc. to bring out the literary talent amongst the students of the Ins�tu--te. The Club is also tasked with bringing out the Ins�tute magazine, and two members of the Club are also nominated to the Editorial Board of the Newsle�er Technosavvy and the Wall MagazineThink Tank.

The Speaker's Club is a pla�orm to encourage public speaking. It helps students to build up theirconfidence to share their ideas, views and comments. Having the idea and presen�ng the idea aretwo different arts. We are very well aware how companies through adver�sements create a las�ngimpact in our minds even though the quality of their product is not at par with others. Thus,Verba�m seeks to provide students with the opportunity to gain confidence and give them thepla�orm to brush up their speaking skills and come up being effec�ve orators. The Club regularlyorganizes sessions like debates, extempores, group discussions, street plays, role plays, poli�caldiscussions, poetry sessions, pictures and movies feedbacks and many other interes�ng ac�vi�esfrom �me to �me. The Club has built up a tradi�on of going through five words each sessionwhich are very frequently mis-used and mis-spelt.

In the academic year 2014-15, NIT UK received necessary approvals for the ini�a�on of a Movie Club and the Club started func�oning from August, 2014. The Club aims not only at providing ente-rtainment and recrea�on, it also focuses on genera�ng social consciousness among students. Itstrives to make students aware of the current social problems and impress upon them the ideathat educa�on cannot be limited within the confines of a classroom.

Mountaineering Club ( Aarohan )

The primary aim of the Mountaineering Club is to in-culcate the spirit of adventure among the youth. Theclub will also aim to support any mountain based ac-�vity, and is just really a group of people who like tobe in the mountains, and when we can't be in themountains, talk about what we want to do when weare in the mountains. Emphasis is laid on ins�llingthe concept of Adventure and following conven�onalenvironmental guidelines to ensure environmentalawareness andconserva�on.

Training & Placement Cell

The Training & Placement Office at NIT U�arakhand handles all aspects of campus placements for gradua�ng students. The cell is responsible for media�ng between the company and the students. Arrangement for every stage of the recruitment process are made by officials at the office. TheFaculty In-Charge for placements in consulta�on with Departmental T&P Coordinators and the stu-dent representa�ves oversee all the placement related ac�vi�es at the ins�tute. The placementcell coordinates with recrui�ng companies and handles the en�re placement process. The schedu-ling process is handled accommoda�ng both the needs of the students and the departments toensure that the recruitment process is carried in the most comfortable and sa�sfying mannerpossible.

Training Initiatives

The Training & Placement Cell also takes the responsibility of training the students of the collegeand strengthening their concept by building on the fundamental principles while also, accommoda-�ng the needs of the industrial market within realis�c constrains such as economic environmentalsocial, health and safety. The Cell ensures complete revision of basic concepts so that the studentscan iden�fy, formulate and solve engineering problems with the understanding of professional andethical responsibility.

The previous academic year saw some great placements from reputed mul�na�onal companies.The students performed well in the placement drives, both on campus and off campus. We wereglad to host a total of 34 companies for the placement drive of students gradua�ng in 2019 andexpect more in the coming years. The highest package grabbed was of 10.50 Lac/annum. How To Reach?

Satellite Campus of NIT U�arakhand is located in Malaviya Na�onal Ins�tute of Technology (MNIT) Jaipur which is located in Malaviya Nagar on Jawahar Lal Nehru Marg, Jaipur. Jaipur is situated in Northern India at a distance of around 260 km south of Delhi.

By Air: MNIT is roughly five kilometers from Sanganer airport, from there one can either hire a taxi to reach MNIT or take bus no 13 to reach TonkPhatak and then Bus no, 7 or 17 to reach MNIT.

By Train: Indian railways connect Jaipur to almost all major ci�es of the country. There are three stops close to MNIT: one on Durgapura, about 3 kms from MNIT, from where one can hire a taxi to reach MNIT, another at GhandhiNagar railway sta�on, 1 km away from MNIT, one can hire a taxi or take bus no. 7 and 17 to reach MNIT. The main railway sta�on is about 13 kms from MNIT, one can take a taxi or bus no 7 to reach MNIT.
