It is without a doubt that such mixtures become necessary to make possible one’s ability toremain strong and flexible during turbulent seas . As a Pirate you will gain the toolsneeded to fully enjoy those bright golden days of calm and free sailing. Equally as important, and more demanding, is your ability to successfully navigate thestormy weather which will arise duringyour journey.
It is our hope that that you participate fully in your academic journey. Though it seem odd, it is also our hope that you embrace the storms that require weathering. In so doing, you will find that you have inmental reserve the capacity to make sounddecisions in order to overcome possible mishaps.

The key to making a seamless transition from one college or university toanother is proper planning. As youcontemplate transferring to ECU, there are several important things youshould keep in mind.

Things to consider before you transfer

Attending Transfer Orientation is the first step toward success at ECU because it is specifically designed to help you make a smooth transition to yournew campus.
We encourage you to attendone of the two-day transferorientation sessions held in May and June. Parents and otherfamily members are alsowelcomed. During orientation you will have an opportunity meet your advisor, register for classes, get your ECU 1 Card
(your student ID card), learn about QUEST, the Transfer Living Learning Community,meet other transfer students,attend campus resources fair, and take a tour of Greenville.
You and your family are also invited to stay on campusduring your two day visit toEast Carolina University. Onlineorientation is also an option.
To Register OnlineYou can register online with acredit card at www.ecu.edu/fyc. You will need your Pirate ID and your password. The defaultpassword is “$” followed by the ECU ID that was mailed to you shortly after your admission. The ECU ID begins with a “B” and is followed by eight numbers. After completing the online registration, a confirmation and parking pass will be emailed to your ECU email address. Please print this off and bring to orientation.
To Register By MailFill out the registration form,be sure to select the two-daysession you wish to attend. Mailthe registration form with a check or money order. It should bepost-marked 10 days before the requested orientation session so that we have adequate time to prepare your arrival. Aconfirmation and parking passwill be emailed to your ECU e-mail address. Please print this off and bring to orientation.
HousingStudents staying in a campusresidence hall during orientation will be assigned roommates of the same sex. Students will stay in air-conditioned residence hall. The cost of an additional $24 includes linens, a pillow, towels, and soap. You should also bring an alarm clock. Housing assignments and key pick-up will take place after you have checked in.

What will I be expected to do as a participantin QUEST?Students who are chosen to participate in QUEST will be expected to enroll in thefollowing classes:
COAD (Transfer section taught in yourresidence hall)
Global Understanding Course (satisfiesdomestic global diversity requirement)
Attend scheduled fall/spring QUEST meetings
Participate in specialized fall/spring programs
Plan and participate in a servicelearning project

What is QUEST?QUEST, the Transfer Living LearningCommunity, is an exciting residentiallearning environment open to incoming transfer students wanting to live oncampus. The community is structuredto help transfer students make a seamless transition into ECU. Programs andactivities are intended to facilitatemeaningful connections among students and encourage early engagement within the ECU community.
Who can participate in Quest?A group of 36 transfer students will be selected to live in Scott Hall Suites and participate in QUEST. Students from any major entering ECU with a 2.5 GPA orbetter are welcome and encouragedto apply.

Veteran Services
Counseling and Student Development Because settling transitioning to a new college can be a challenge for anystudent, the Counseling Center isavailable to students who need help sorting things out. Reason studentsseek services include anxiety,depression, relationship difficulties,and substance-abuse issues. The center offers individual and group counseling, psychiatry services, educationalprogramming, and crisis services.All services are fee and confidential.

Campus ResourcesStudent Computer Labs There are more than 80 supported labs on the ECU campus with both PCS and Macs. All computers provide Internetaccess. The Austin computer lab in room 104 in the Austin Building is the centrally located computer lab on campus. Parking on campus is by permit only.Faculty, staff, and students at ECU are eligible to register vehicles and purchase a parking permit online at any time during the academic year based on permitavailability. Purchases may be made online through a secure website—the OneStop system. Permits are valid July 1 through June 30 each year.
