INTRODUCTION TO THE 12TH EDITION OF THE

TRANSFER PRICING AGGIES STUDENT PROFILE BOOK

The Fall 2017 edition of the Transfer Pricing Aggies Student Profile Book highlights 32 students who

are currently enrolled  in or have successfully completed my  International Transfer Pricing course

MGMT/ECON/INTA 663. They are looking for internships or full‐time placements in transfer pricing

or closely related careers such as taxation, valuation or data analytics.

My 14‐week, 42‐hour Transfer Pricing course is a demanding graduate seminar where students read and  discuss  both  scholarly  and  professional  research  on  multinationals  and  transfer  pricing. Required readings this semester include the 2017 versions of the U.S. Section 482 Regulations, the OECD Transfer Pricing Guidelines, and the United Nations Practical Manual on Transfer Pricing for Developing Countries. In the course, we discuss the latest topics including: value chain analysis and DEMPE activities, intellectual property and risk migration, BEPS and country‐by‐country reporting, cash  pooling  and  cost  sharing  arrangements,  restructuring,  permanent  establishments  and significant people functions, and advance pricing agreements. Students have weekly quizzes on the reading materials. We  review well‐known  transfer  pricing  cases  and  the  ADIT  Transfer  Pricing Certificate  exams.  Students  practice  their  knowledge  using  Bureau  van  Dijk’s  Transfer  Pricing Catalyst, Thomson Reuters OneSource Documenter, ktMINE's Royalty Rates and Standard and Poor’s Capital IQ. Each student also interviews and writes a paper on a senior transfer pricing professional.  My  students  typically  take  graduate  courses  in  accounting,  economics,  econometrics,  finance, international business, management and statistics. Most students have, in addition, completed the Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) Level 1 or 2 Exams, the Advanced Excel training on Management Consulted, and a graduate accounting course in Financial Statements Analysis.

Adding the 25 students currently studying transfer pricing with me this semester to the 277 who have previously taken the course brings the total number to 302 students. More than 100 now have transfer pricing careers. Most of my current and former students are also members of the closed Transfer Pricing Aggies network on LinkedIn.   I hope the students in this 12th edition of the Transfer Pricing Aggies Student Profile Book also find successful placements in transfer pricing careers. Each student has signed a FERPA form, allowing public release of his or her information for purposes of job placement. If your firm, tax authority or other organization would like to interview and hire one or more of these students, please contact them  directly  using  the  information  on  their  profile  page  or  on  their  LinkedIn  page. More information about transfer pricing at Texas A&M can be found on my LinkedIn page and website.   I would like to thank Mr. Jenner Bate and Mrs. Marilyn Santiesteban for their help putting together this edition of the Transfer Pricing Aggies Student Profile Book. Gig’em, Aggies!
