Today’s design and project engineer must be able to specify all components for new projects, redesigns, and upgrades. Often new plant and equipment is bought to meet a capital budget restraint and built to a price, rather than a fit for purpose standard. Once commissioned, site personnel go about finding ways to improve performance and reliability of new plant along with existing plant.

Modern power transmission systems and engineered drives are a vital part of a plant’s efficient and reliable operation. Add to this the growing economic pressures and focus on energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions and the need for optimized drives is evident. The ability to correctly design and specify the various power transmission components in a drive system for optimum performance will drastically improve plant reliability and reduce energy consumption and emissions.

Who should attend:Maintenance Managers, Maintenance
Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Reliability
Engineers, Environmental Engineers,
electrical supervisors, mechanical supervisors,
maintenance personnel.
Maintenance practices and activities have a major impact on plant reliability and corresponding maintenance costs and production losses. Reactive ‘breakdown’ maintenance and Preventative maintenance are costly and an inefficient utilization of limited resources. Predictive maintenance, incorporating modern condition based monitoring and assessment techniques, provides a framework for deploying maintenance activities based on machine condition rather than when they breakdown, or because a predefined timeframe suggests so.

Chain Installation & MaintenanceRoller & conveyor chains require proper installation and maintenance to ensure longevity
in service. Here we cover how to measure chain wear, sprocket condition, installation, and
lubrication and maintenance requirements.
Bearing Handling & StorageBearings are a precision component which can be damaged by incorrect handling and storage!
Understanding how to correctly handle and store bearings to ensure they are not inadvertently
damaged prior to installation, will reduce premature failures often experienced shortly after
machines are repaired.
Fitting Spherical Roller & Self-Aligning Ball BearingsA practical tutorial aimed at providing
mechanical fitters with the correct
methodology for fitting these bearings. Topics
include shaft finish and tolerances, correct
mounting procedure for tapered bore bearings
onto adapter sleeves, setting radial internal
clearance, sealing considerations, and more!
V-Belt & Pulley InstallationUnderstanding the correct way to install v-belts
and pulleys is essential to ensure long service
life. Participants will learn the value of correct
pulley alignment, accurate v-belt tensioning
practices, and how to identify common v-belt
failure causes.
Bearing LubricationCorrect lubrication practices are vital to ensure
bearings achieve the maximum service
life possible. In this tutorial we explore the
different types of lubricants available and
their application. We cover how to determine
relubrication schedules and quantities based
on operating hours, not calendar time lines, to
optimize your lubrication schedule and extend
bearing service life.
The following tutorials are practical hands-on workshop exercises conducted on-site in a less formal atmosphere than a training course. These tutorials are often tailored to suit your individual site needs and focuses on those areas you deem important.
