    COMPANY PROFILE

    THE COMPANY BACKGROUND

    Sonalika Group started its journey of success during 1976 whenfoundation of small-scale unit to fabricate and assemble Wheat

    Harvesting Machines (Thrashers) was laid. With the passage of time this

    small initiative was taken by Mittal brothers in 1976 turned into a great

    success due to the undulated efforts of its promoters and thousands of

    employees who worked unaltered throughout. The great success

    provided further motivation ultimately resulting in setting up a new plant in

    the name of International Tractors Limited for the production of tractors,

    the demand and requirement of which was steadily growing at that time.

    The plant which set up at Chak- Gujran (Hoshiarpur) is now spread over

    an area of 65 acres (approx.) Now Sonalika group consists of 2

    companies: International Tractors limited (JOINT VENTURE WITH

    RENAULT FROM FRANCE)

    The Company's authorized Capital = Rs.56 million (As on 31/03/2001)

    Issued, subscribed and Paid up Capital = Rs.50 Million (As on

    31/03/2000)

    International tractor Ltd. was established on 1996 - 1997.

    Now in JUNE2003, the production rate of tractor is 60 per day. The total

    no of employees working in ITL is 1200.The total no of dealers of ITL inIndia & neighboring countries are 548. ITL have introduced 15 models of

    tractors. There are 5 regional offices in India, which are at DELHI,

    PATNA, AHMEDABAD, MANIPUR and BHOPAL. Turn over of ITL if

    400/crore. Company got ISO 9001 Certificate in April 1999 BY ICL.

    Company is also running its own agriculture equipment making industries,

    which is producing thrasher, disk harrow, wheat harvester etc. They have

    got collaboration with RENAULT AGRICULTURE LTD. FRANCE in

    February 1999. Renault Agriculture provided state of the art technology

    and latest designs.

    The Company And Its Tie Up With Renault

    The company has recently signed a tie with Renault of France

    who is the world leaders in the field of tractor manufacturing and was

    rated as worlds number one tractor company at the years award in Italy.

    ITL has signed an MOU with Renault Agriculture, a 100% subsidiary of

    Renault group of France to manufacture and market tractors of Renault

    Agriculture design in India and neighboring countries.

    Renault Agriculture designs manufactures & distributes tractors

    and agricultural machinery in 1998; it recorded a scale of more than $ 600

    million. It has three factories and 1883 people working for it and is

    represented in 52 countries across the globe.

    The MOU signed by ITL with Renault Agriculture is a three-

    pronged collaboration,Technical, Financial and Commercial. It was

    signed by Mr.I.D.MITTAL (Chairman) and Mr.B.MORANGE (MD-Renault

    Agriculture). A major highlight of agreement is that Renault will open the

    European and Asian markets for Sonalika. The world leader will jointly

    participate in the inter-national marketing strategies and efforts to market

    products of both the companies. Another special feature of the agreement

    is that Renault Agriculture will take minority equity stake of 20% in present

    ITL that will remain under its management control. By joining hands with

    the market leaders in France, the worlds biggest European tractors

    market, Sonalika is sure to go a long way.

    MISSION:

    International Tractors Ltd. offer quality product with distinctive

    features at reasonable price .The company ensure better than the best

    after sale service for the satisfaction of the customer .The firm is ranked

    as best in terms of its quality and production front. Company is

    exporting its tractors to different Asian as well as African countries.

    FUTURE PLANS:

    To provide superior quality tractors over all world with new

    technology at reasonable rates, and to become No. 1 in automobile

    industry within five years.

    The monthly production rate of tractors is 1200 to 1500

    tractors. The assembly shop is designed such as to assemble

    100 tractors per day. The tractors manufactured by the company

    have secured a special place in the market because of their

    maximum pulling power and minimum fuel consumption andhave achieved a reputation for performance, quality and

    reliability. It was due to vast experience of the promoters in this

    sector and their principle of no compromise on quality that the

    company becomes the only company in the tractor industry to

    achieve a growth rate of 127 % and have present market share

    4%. At present the company has a strong nation wide network of

    Tractor-A brief introduction

    A wheeled, self-propelled vehicle for hauling other vehicles or equipment

    and for operating the towed implements; also, a crawler, which runs on an

    endless, self-laid track and performs similar functions

    .

    A farm tractor is a multipurpose power unit. It has a drawbar for drawing

    tillage tools and a power takeoff device for driving implements or

    operating a belt pulley. The acreage to be worked, type of crops grown,

    and the terrain all impose their requirements on tractor design.

    Accordingly, models vary in such details as power generated, weight,ground clearance, turning radius, and facilities for operating equipment.

    All models can, however, be grouped under four general types: four-

    wheel, row-crop or high-wheel, tricycle, and crawler.

    Tractors are rated by their horsepower they deliver at the drawbar and at

    the belt. On small models, the drawbar and belt horsepower may run as

    low as 10 (7.5 kW); on large models the drawbar horsepower runs as high

    as 132 (98 kW), while belt horsepower reaches about 144 (107 kW).

    The major components are engine, clutch, and transmission. These

    components are intimately related and designed to work in conjunction

    with each other to accomplish specific work. Tractor engines are relatively

    low-speed; their maximum horsepower is generated at crankshaft speeds

    in the neighborhood of 2000 rpm. These engines have one, two, three,

    four, six, or eight cylinders and operate on gasoline, kerosene, liquid

    petroleum gas, or diesel fuel. They are of the spark-ignition or diesel type,

    operating on the four-stroke-cycle principle, and are cooled by water or

    air.

    Power is transmitted to the rear wheels or to all four wheels. Drive to the

    front wheels is mechanical or hydrostatic, its purpose being to increase

    drawbar pull at the will of the operator. Transmissions have 3, 4, 5, 6, 8,

    10, or 12 forward speeds and one or two reverse gears. Clutch less

    hydraulic transmissions are also used, making it possible to shift gears

    while in motion. Vehicle speeds are low, ranging from slightly more than 1

    mi/h (1.6 km/s) to about 18 mi/h (28 km/h) in high gear.

    The basic design of an industrial tractor for hauling and for operating

    construction equipment departs little from that of a farm tractor, and

    differences in design of models fit the vehicle to its intended work.

    Because high ground clearance is not needed for industrial work, the

    tractor is commonly built with a lower center of gravity and is capable of

    traveling a few miles per hour faster than a farm tractor. If its use is

    confined to hauling, it may not be equipped with hydraulic power. If it is to

    be used for operating a scraper, backhoe, or front-end loader, its structure

    may be heavier and more rugged.

    ROTAVATOR

    Benefits:

    (i)Suitable for use in dry as well as wet land cultivation.

    (ii) Suitable for light and medium soil conditions.

    (iii) Used for loosening and aerating soil up to a depth of Eight inches. (iv)

    Prepares seed beds quickly and economically.

    Rotavator runs with tractor power from forty to sixty hp.

    It runs with PTO speed ranging from 500 to550 rpm.

    Its weight ranges from 350 to 400 kg.

    RIGID TILLER:

    BENEFITS:

    (i) It is designed for the light and medium soils.

    (ii) Used for loosening and aerating soil to a depth of nine inches.

    (iii) Prepares seed beds quickly and economically.

    The tines of the tiller ranges from 9 to 27.It works easily with a tractor of

    power with 40 to 50 hp.Its weight is inbetween 200 to 300 kg depending

    on the number of tines.

    DISC PLOUGH

    BENEFITS:

    i) The disc plough is designed to work in all type of soil for basic functions

    such as soil breaking, soil raising, soil turning and soil mixing.

    (ii) It is used to open the new fields and to process the stony areas.

    (iii) It can be used easily at rocky and rooted areas.

    (iv) It is specially useful in hard and dry trashy land conditions and in soils

    where scouring is a major problem.

    (v)It works on tractor with power ranging from 50 to 90 hp depending on

    its confrigitation.Its weight ranges from 300 to 600kg.

    LAND LEVELLER

    (i) It is a simple and rugged Implement which is directly fitted to the

    tractor.

    (ii) The 10 mm single plate duly reinforced, makes our leveller trouble free

    in operation.

    (iii) It is a basic implement for leveling land.

    RIDGER

    BENEFITS:

    (i) Depth of the ridger could be adjusted with the side tyres.

    (ii) It is mostly used for sugarcane plantion.(iii)It requires a power of about 60hp.

    (iv)Its weight is about 400kg

    ROTARY SLASHER:

    BENEFITS:

    The grass cutter Mower Horizontal slashing is the most versatile method

    of grass cutting. Rotary slasher is powerful enough to cope with tall

    weeds and small bushes, yet giving a satisfactory fine cut on turf areas

    mounted with front and rear rollers, scalping is minimal. Tractor-mounted

    rotary slasher, grass slasher provide a very cost-effective grass cutting

    solution. .It can be applied to any tractor of50-80hp.

    MOULD BOARD PLOUGH:

    BENEFITS:

    (i) It can handle the tough ploughing job with outstanding penetration

    performance.

    (ii) maintained by the automatic depth control unit available on the tractor.

    (iii) The mould board will retain mirror finish at all times contributing to

    well-turned furrows.

    (iv)It can work with a tractor of 30 to 40hp and its weight is about 200kg.

    SUB SOILERS:

    BENEFITS:

    (i) The Subsoilers are deep tillage implement specially designed for

    breaking up hard pan layers and loosing the subsoil allowing better

    drainage, root growth and mineral osmosis.

    (ii) The heavy duty chisel pointed share shatters the soil well below the

    surface, thus increasing the water holding capacity.

    (iii) It preserves moisture during high rainfall which is very important for

    the crop to withstand low rainfall or drought period.

    (iv) It is an inexpensive implement & it provides a simple and economical

    way to obtain boosting crop yields and profits.

    (v)Power required to drive this implement is different for different arms.

    (vi)It is about 30hp for one 40for two and 60 for three arms.

    POST HOLE DIGGER

    BENEFITS:

    (i) Fastest method to dig holes as it is P.T.O. driven implement.

    (ii) It can dig holes up to diameter 6", 9" 12" or 14".

    (iii) Replicable auger with the same frame as per the hole diameter

    required.

    (iv) Made for all types of soil.

    (v) Easy to transport.(vi)Its weight is about 80kg.

    Multi Crop Thresher

    The crops like red gram, mustard, sorghum soyabean, wheat, millets etc,

    can be threshed with this thresher. Double speed system is provided lo

    control the higher strike of threshing motor to avoid any breakage of grain

    clung threshing. Rpm of threshing drum and suction blower can be

    increased or decreased as and when required mentioned as under:

    Manufacturing

    IntroductionTractor assembly shop is main shop of sonalika international tractor Ltd.

    In this shop the different machining parts, housing and other components

    which are finished or machined in other departments of the industry and

    other components which are purchased from outside are assembled here.

    Then assembled components like differential housing, gearboxes, rear

    covers, Trumpet housing and other housing are send to main line for

    Tractor assembly. In main Tractor assembly line tractors are send to paint

    shop through overhead endless chain rotating conveyor. It is supported

    from ceiling and has a fixed path to travel which saves valuable floor

    space. The arrangement is such that lifting mechanisum (with help of

    hook) lowers down for loading and unloading of tractors.

    Heavy Machine Shop

    In Heavy Machine Shop all major components of Tractors are machined.

    These are:

    Crank Case

    Differential housing

    Gear Box Housing

    Clutch Housing

    Trumpet Housing

    This infrastructure is equipped with the advanced CNC Machining

    Centers, Special Purpose and General Purpose Machines. All the

    components are thoroughly checked and inspected for its Geometrical

    accuracy on the imported 3D Coordinate Measuring Machine.

    The sections are highly equipped with modern machinery and equipment.

    Each section has a process layout i.e. the raw material is received at one

    end and the finished component is dispatched from the other. The

    material received is in form of casting. The machining process is carried

    out under strict quality norms. There is inprocess inspection at each

    workstation. The component is made to go through final inspection before

    it is dispatched for assembly.

    The Material handling System in the H.M.S shop consists of hydraulic lift

    trucks, power hoists, roller conveyors, overhead crane, fork lift trucks,

    bins etc. the shop has well designed network of roller conveyors. The

    castings from the truck are loaded onto these conveyors and the material

    travels to reach the respective section. At the end of each conveyor a

    section for inspection has been made so as to make the component

    through the inspection process. Each workstation is provided with a

    power hoist of 500Kg (load carrying capacity). These are used to pick

    casting from conveyor and load them onto the machine and vice versa.

    There is also a provision of a 2-ton carrying capacity overhead crane in

    each section.

    Light Machine Shop

    Light Machine Shop is where we manufacture sophisticated Control

    Valves for high pressure (200 Bar) Tractor applications with Hardened

    (60HRC) Bush and Spools for prolonged service life. This infrastructure

    have capabilities to Design, Develop and Manufacture complete Hydraulic

    Assemblies for Tractor applications of Lift Capacity up to 3000 Kgs and

    Flow rates up to 45 LPM.

    L.M.S.is shop for manufacturing small components of the tractor inSonalika. International tractors limited. This is a small shop where

    light components operations are performed on the light components

    of tractors. There are about different types of machines where

    different operations are performed on different components for

    production work. Main operations performed in L.M.S. are as

    Gear& Heat Treatment Shop

    Gear shop is also main shop of International Tractor Ltd. In

    gear shop the external as well as internal gears are cut on the

    components. gears are cut with hob cutter process, gear

    shaping with broaching process and finishing with shaving

    process. Gears are commanly used to transmit power from one

    shaft to another shaft with some reduction or acceleration.

    Gears are having great advanantages as compared to belts in

    terms space and power transmission. In tractor a power of

    about 25 to 60 H.P is transmitted with minimum noise and ina very limted space by gears. The gear shop of S.I.T Ltd. has

    high precision instruements to check the gear profile ,lead , run

    out, and pitch.

    Having World Class manufacturing facilities to deliver best quality of

    transmission gears, shafts & assemblies for automobile and tractor

    applications. The Facility delivers all types of gears & shafts like

    Main Shafts, Lay shafts, Input Shafts, Synchromesh Gears, Gears

    with Dog Teeth, Shifter Sleeves, Synchro Hubs & Cones.

    Heat treatment

    Heat treatment is important operation in the manufacturing process

    of machine component of tractor such gears, shafts, gear shifter

    rods and tool room parts (such as bushes, dowels, pins and other

    components). The properties of the components are to be changed

    as per drawing specification and working conditions. there

    properties of metals can be improved, graded or altered practically

    by controlled heating and cooling i.e. by heat treatment. Heat

    treatment can alter the mechanical properties of components bychanging the size and shape of the grains of which it is composed,

    or by changing its micro-constituents.

    CNC Turnings, CNC Hobbings, CNC Shavings, CNC Multi-Axis

    Grinders, Gear Shapers, Broaching, Roofings, Swaging and Tooth

    internationally renowned suppliers. This facility delivers all type of sheet

    metal components i.e. Skin Panels, Inner panels, Floor Panels, Pillars,

    Reinforcements, Cross Members, Oil Pans, Fuel tanks etc. It includes

    Laser Cutting

    Rapido 5 Axis Laser Cutting machine from M/S Prima (Italy) with a travel

    Assembly

    Assembly Engine:

    The State of Art assembly line for Engines is one of the best lines

    fitted with high quality automated slat conveyor system having

    various safeties and DC Multi Nut Runner systems on the different

    stages which ensures consistent production. The diesel engines

    assembled here are from 28 Hp to 90 Hp.

    Engine can be called as heart of automobile. Engines are used for

    different purpose The engine used in INTERNATIONAL TRACTORS is of

    these types. The engine fitted in 740 DI is made by SYMPSONS, which

    are exported.The engine in 50 & 60 H.P. are of two types one is standard

    model and its design is taken from ZETOR of Check-osolavia and other is

    fuel efficient model in which crank case and head design is taken from

    AVL (Auto Vehicle Ltd.0 of Austria. Due to better performance of F.E.

    model engines the production of standard engines is stopped now.

    The workers in this shop are of high skill level and have lot of

    experience. The production of shop is about 80-85 engines per day and

    can be increased if required. All the component of engines except

    crankcase is brought from outsides. The shop is having latest engine

    testing shop and having latest equipment. In testing shop engine is

    checked for efficiency, specific fuel consumption power, torque, leakage,

    rpm and other faults like below from crankcase The finally tested are sent

    to the assembly

    Assembly facility Includes:-

    The conveyor is fitted with 28 fixtures for mounting of all engine

    models with facility for 360 degree rotation for various assembly

    operations.

    All Stages are equipped with DC Multi Nut Runners for optimized

    and consistent production.

    The Complete Shop is Air Pressurized to ensure dust free

    environment for the quality production.

    Other Facilities Includes:-

    Leakage testing Machine

    Washing Machine

    Oil pump test rig

    Oil contamination testing.

    Test cells with hydraulic dynamometers for 100% Engine Testing.

    Assembly Tractors:

    Sonalika Group possesses two state of art assembly lines in India and

    two abroad. In India assembly lines are situated at Punjab and Himachal

    Pradesh.

    International Tractors Ltd. has tractor assembly line equiped with capacity

    of 80,000 tractors and engines per year. The plant has in house facilities

    for producing transmission hydraulic components and engines. To further

    enhance the quality of Tractors, Gears, Shafts and other important

    components are manufacturers in house and are tested on high endtesting facilities.

    Tractor assembly shop is main shop of sonalika international tractor Ltd.

    In this shop the different machining parts, housing and other components

    which are finished or machined in other departments of the industry and

    other components which are purchased from outside are assembled here.

    Then assembled components like differential housing, gearboxes, rear

    covers, Trumpet housing and other housing are send to main line for

    Tractor assembly. In main Tractor assembly line tractors are send to paint

    shop through overhead endless chain rotating conveyor. It is supported

    from ceiling and has a fixed path to travel which saves valuable floorspace. The arrangement is such that lifting mechanisum (with help of

    hook) lowers down for loading and unloading of tractors

    Systematic control of those variables encountered in a manufacturing

    process, which affect the excellence of the product. Such variable result

    from the Application of material, men, machine and manufacture-ring

    conditions only when these variables are regulated to the extent that they

    Generally, inspection, which is the process of sorting good from bad, is

    control. But quality control and inspect-ion are different. Conceptually, a

    Q.C. aim of prevention of defects at the very source relies on effective

    Q.C.uses inspection as a valuable tool. In quality control programmed

    inspection data are effectively used to take prompt corrective actions to

    arrest the incidence of defects in the job on hand to plan the prevention of

    occurrence of the same or similar defects in future.
