UMW Training Program

Current Problem
• George Greene – Director of Strength and Conditioning
• Develops training program for 15-22 teams with at least 500 students
• Hard-copies used– Microsoft Word and Excel– Manual distribution/collection/progress tracking
Proposed Solution
• Develop website that streamlines and automates this activity (paperless)
• Workouts/Training programs created and posted on website for athletes/coaches to access via their training accounts
• Pre-workout questionnaire and workout completion information available to coaches/administrators.
Training Programs and Workouts
• Workouts – Single named exercise categorized by muscle group
and type of exercise– YouTube instructional videos can be embedded
• Training Programs– Duration from a day to the entire semester– Consists of multiple workouts– Reps, days, and duration information included– Can be tailored for individual students
Athlete Feedback
• Pre-workout questionnaire (can be tailored)– How many hours of sleep have you had?– Did you eat breakfast?– Do you have any injuries or pain?– How do you feel on a scale of 1-10?
• Post-workout– Athlete provides workout completion details
Users, Privileges and Hierarchy
• Athlete – Is a student in one or more sports teams at UMW
• Coach – Is a coach of one or more teams at UMW.
• Admin – Director of strength and conditioning at UMW
User Athlete
• View his/her teams workouts/training programs• Fills out daily questionnaire• Complete workout completion details• Modify username, password and profile picture• View calendar information – Workouts, fames, events, other profiles and training
programs
User Coach
• Add/remove students from their teams• Modify workouts once posted by admin• View athlete profile• Post events to the team calendar• View questionnaire and workout completion
athlete inputs• Does not have admin access• Cannot create new workouts or view athlete
profiles for athletes not on their teams.
User Admin• Add/Remove students/coaches to any team.• Create workouts/training programs and save for later use• Assign workouts/training programs to teams/athletes• View athlete profile information• View questionnaire and workout completion athlete inputs• Receives daily email letting him know which athletes did
not complete their training• Post events and games visible by team or to all athletes• Add new athletes/coaches to the website which includes
email notification with temporary password
Outstanding questions
• Can coach create their own training programs and workouts for their teams?
• Should coach receive notification if athlete did not complete daily workout?
• Development platform– Client preferred web browser is Safari
