The statistical training plan serves the training needs necessary for building the capabilities of the employees of the Statistics Centre-Abu Dhabi (SCAD) and other government employees in Abu Dhabi emirate. This training plan aims to support Abu Dhabi’s plan to build and develop statistical capabilities in order to support policy and decision-makers with high-quality statistical data.
The plan is in line with the strategic goals of SCAD and the Centre’s Statistical Training Institute (STI) for statistical capacity building, which is aligned with the approved statistical competencies framework to assess the readiness of human capital.
The following documents and sources have been considered in the design of the training plan:
• SCAD’s 2020 operational plan, which provides the basis for the main activities.
• Human Capital Readiness Analysis that identifies the gaps in the statistical and behavioral competencies of SCAD employees according to the approved competency framework.
• Training Needs Analysis of the partners, which meets the needs of the concerned parties across Abu Dhabi Government Entities (ADGE).
• The results of the training assessment of the previous year training programs conducted at STI.
• Feedback and comments of the participants in the trainings through the training assessment questionnaires and training impact assessment.

The statistics universal mission: to produce information. Intuitive vision of certain topics: Is it true we may lie with statistics? Types of statistical variables. Bar charts and histograms. Overview of graphical representations. Two main kinds of statistics: descriptive and inductive. Simple techniques illustration: The role of sampling and surveys in statistics. Standard tools of descriptive statistics. Index numbers. Concentration measures. Basic references on quality.
