Types of training and
development
Induction or Orientation Training : It is nothing but an introduction of the organisation to the newly employed person.
Job Training : It relates to specific job which the worker has to handle about machines, process of production and so on.
• Apprenticeship Training : This training is desirable in industries . It is very prevalent in printing, trade, building & construction and craft like mechanics, electrician, welders etc.
•Internship Training : It is usually meant for such vocations where advance theoretical knowledge is to be backed up by practical experience on the job. It is related to student training.
•Refresher Training or Retaining : The basic purpose of training is to aware the existing workforce with latest method of performing their job & improve their efficiency further.
•Training for Promotions : The purpose of training is to develop the existing employees to make them fit for undertaking higher job.
On the Job
Training
Under this method of training, trainee is separate from the job situation & his attention is focused upon learning the material related to his future job performance. Off-the-job training method are as follows:-
On the Job TrainingJob Rotation : Movement of trainee from one
job to another.
Coaching : The trainee is placed under a particular supervisor who function as a coach.
Job Instruction : Step by Step training.
Committee Assignment : A group of trainees selected and given an opportunity to resolve a live case in the organisation.
Off the Job Training
In off the job training the trainee learns outside the job and involves himself in full time learning.
Off the Job Training
Vestibule Training : Actual work conditions are simulated in a class room.
Role Playing : It is a method of human interaction that involves realistic behaviour in imaginary situation.
