Gimme shelter - Drama Conventions:

-Her mom is a drug addict and can not take care of her daughter. -she runs away and finds her other parent that has never been there for her -the struggles to fit in. -fins a new family that makes her happy that is not her blood family but the new close friends that make her feel like a better person.

Inspirations:-it relates to reality and how some people live in todays society. Past situations-the context of the story is very interesting and touching.-the editing of the movie looks simple but yet affective. It’s a dramatic movie which I find very interesting.

How I live nowConventions: - She’s this very rebellious girl that does whatever she feels like and says whatever she feels like. - She falls in love and becomes someone

different. - They become split up because of the and

she promises to come back to the house no matter how long it takes. (a lovers promise)

Inspirations: - it’s a very unique dramatic romance. - Its very predictable but yet interesting. - the story of war and love is cliché but the

way the story is set up is interesting.

Solo

Conventions: -the girl in the woods all by herself something bad is bound to happen. - The hunter freaks her out and scares her

with stalking pictures and a doll from her childhood.

- Its set in the woods where most bad things happen especially because she is a teenager.

Inspirations: - The use of the props to set the storyline

properly (from her childhood and pictures of her in her everyday events).

- Making her outcast right at the beginning of the movie.

- Some of the scenes only have the music on top without the Foleys of what the character is doing.

Lucy

Conventions: -The innocent female finds her inner strength to fit back and get her revenge on things. -she is first scared about the name things she can do but then accepts her power and uses it to get revenge on the ones who made her like that.- It all happened because of a party (vulnerable mind).

Inspiration: - With every shot gun the scene changes. - They use scientific facts and mix both the

action movie and the scientific part together. So she's not just seeking for revenge but knowledge.

If I Stay Conventions: - She's an innocent girl that knows what she

want and doesn’t think about normal teenage life (partying).

- She finds true love and everything changes for her.

- She in a car accident and everything changes for her and she really wants to get back to living her life again but it’s impossible. She's trapped in 2 dimensions where she can see herself and herself is living life as normal after coma.

Inspirations: - The original idea of her being outside her

own body and not being able to re-live her life as normal.

- The dramatic affects of the score music and the slow motion editing really give it a sad affect to it.

- At the end she accepts how she’s living and turns out happy instead of feeling trapped like she's cursed.

Obvious Child

Conventions: - That she is a depressed woman that doesn’t

know where her life will go . N- She finds someone she truly likes but feels

he will never like her back and plus she is pregnant.

- She ends up having the best time with him and he appreciates and accepts the flaws that she doesn’t.

Inspiration: - The lowest part of her life starts in the

begging rather than near the middle where everything changes.

- She's humorous throughout her crisis of being depressed (it’s very original).

- The story is original and very entertaining it’s a type of comedy that’s is presented in a different way.

Heatstroke

Conventions: - The father has a girlfriend that the

daughter doesn’t like. - The daughter and the mans girlfriend do

not get along. - The man tries to find out what was

happening to the rhino (helpful) and gets killed.

- The daughter and the girlfriend have to work together in order to survive and they become really close.

Inspirations: - That the context of the movie is in a

desert and not in a city where things like this normally happens.

- The editing pace is really face which is really good for the climax of the trailer.

- There's a really fast editing of 1 seconds from the film put together which looks really good especially for a dramatic action movie.

Rudderless

Conventions: - His son dies and he becomes a very

depressed sad person. - He uses his son music in order to move

forward in life and to appreciate the life that his son has.

- He forms a band with the boy that really like the music and they go a long way together.

Inspiration: - The editing is delicate to fit in with the movie trailer ( slow pace editing). - The volume control on the score music is

louder at the credits which gives the movie the feeling it needs.

- When the mood changes the song that the boy wrote in the movie is played as a score music on top of the trailer clip.

Page 10: Trailer analysis 2

Beyond the lightsConventions:- She's a singer but is not happy with her life

because the music are not hers. Its not her words that she is expressing.

- Her mother forces her to become a singer. It want her choice.

- She falls in love and everything becomes better ( she falls in love with a policeman.

- He helps her get her life on track

Inspirations: - The small footage of when she was a little

girl really emphasise how her mother picked her life for her and didn’t let her live it on her own.

- Throughout the trailers, the song she was singing in the beginning of the early stage of her life plays over the rest of the trailer which is really creative.

- the song changes to her singing the same song but when she is old after she falls in love.

Page 11: Trailer analysis 2

Horns Conventions: - He does something extremely bad (kills a

girl he loves) and gets cursed/punished for it hence the horns on his head.

- He is scared about being claimed by the devil but then accepts it.

- The good turned into bad and accepts it.

Inspirations: - The fire affect during the editing

symbolising that she is being claimed by the devil.

- The score music is very gothic like and falls in love with the genre of the movie.

- The editing goes from slow to fast show the rapid change.

- The props are used well to present the character in the devilish form .

- By the end there is only score music and the actions which really makes the trailer intense.
