Here we suggest some time proven effective measures, which you should apply to all your visitors, for the duration of their visit to your workplace. You need to ensure that visitors are aware of their responsibilities and are properly inducted so as to ensure they do not inadvertently cause any harm to themselves or your workers.A visitor is any person, visiting your workplace, who is not a worker or contractor.Step 1. Control their arrival and departureAll visitors should only be allowed to enter the site via attended nominated entry points (e.g. main gate, reception, etc.). Visitors should be registered and given a visitor’s pass, which should be returned at the completion of the visit and signing out as required.Site access identification tags should be displayed at all times.Step 2. Induction should be proportionate to the level of riskAll visitors, other than short-term visitors (e.g. delivery persons, couriers, etc.) should be given a brief induction, which should cover at least the following:• Specific hazards on site (e.g. moving machinery, traffic,

chemicals, noise, etc.)• Personal protective equipment and clothing (e.g. long sleeves, sturdy

The Power of Pallets Inc is a not for profit organisation that is aiming to help solve the problem of the amount of wooden pallets that are sent to land fill in Australia. They aim to upcycle the timber pallets into useful items for local charities and organisations. The Power of Pallets Auction was held on Saturday 23 August at the Cruiseliner Terminal with over $25,000 being raised for the Far North Queensland Hospital Foundation. Cairns Hardware

Hi my name is Portia Eden, I am 7 years old and have just been crowned World No. 2 in 7 Year Girls BMX World Championships held in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

I started my beloved sport at 2 years old and loved it so much that I have competed all around Australia and now I’m on the world scene. My first Worlds were in 2013 in New Zealand where I won World No. 3 which automatically qualified me for this year’s Worlds in Rotterdam.

This set Mum and Dad on a quest to raise funds to support me as attending all these competitions comes with a hefty price tag so without the support

of local help I would not be where I am today.
