Install Station: ~3-4 hours
QA Scan: ~11 hours
• 5 stations scanned by the afternoon of Thursday 8th November

Safety Interlock Systems (1)
• Power Supply:
– Currently, mains equipment individually protected with circuit breakers but compressor running from unprotected 3 phase supply
• When power restored after blackout, mains equipment remains off but compressor restarts – potentially harmful
– IC electricians asked to provide solution:
• New high capacity 3 phase line installed
• Split into ‘normal’ 3 phase and mains supplies at breaker box
• Blackouts cause breaker box to trip – switches off ‘root’ 3 phase supply, protecting both mains equipment and compressor
• N.B. Only one particular type of trip switch will work with compressor! IC electricians will provide details of setup, for replication at RAL…
– New supply installed in parallel with existing one – no disruption to data taking
– Work complete on Wednesday 31st October, but intend to continue using old supply during current intensive 5 station QA run

Safety Interlock Systems (2)
• Smoke Detector:
– Craig has ordered Vesda Laser Focus 250 smoke detector system
• Should arrive by the end of the week
– Alarm signal will turn off AFEIIt power supply
– IC electricians propose additional (standalone) relay switch between main 3 phase breaker box & AFEIIt PSU
• All electricians busy at the moment, so haven’t yet identified suitable relay (should be able to start looking by the end of the week…?)
– Will also need to request Mechanical Workshop time for installation of Vesda tubing system (for ‘sniffing’ AFEIIts)…

Safety Interlock Systems (3)
• Cassette Pressure, Lid Temperature/Water Alarms:
– Should just turn off AFEIIt PSU & compressor
– However, in order to shut down compressor, must be wired into main switch of 3 phase breaker box
• Will therefore turn off all equipment (but should not be a problem…?)
– Request technical documentation for alarm signals, as electricians will need to build interface control logic
– Installation will most likely require significant downtime of breaker box supplies
• Either switch back to unprotected supply for duration of work, or move over to the new protected mains & 3 phase supplies after alarm control logic has been fitted

Summary
• Time-optimised scan pattern defined
• First 5 stations to be QA scanned by the 8th of November
• Power supply safety interlock in place
• Work progressing on remaining safety interlock systems
