About : who are called "the prepers" in the USA?

The apocalyptic prediction that the end of the world happen almost imminently, Dec. 21, by an erroneous interpretation of the Mayan calendar has focused attention on the movement "Prepper" or survivalist, who are actively preparing to cope on their own any emergency, from a natural disaster like a flood or the impact of a solar flare into war, economic collapse, a pandemic or a nuclear explosion. The phenomenon has become very famous in the US, where life is more extreme, but there preparacionistas in Spain. Members of this group are very diverse. For most, their motives are far from being fantastic or pseudo-religious, do not believe the world will end in a certain date and resent being mistaken for the more gullible. Some groups have their own bunkers hidden by geography Spanish -as confirmed to ABC.es-, and are ready to face the future self-sufficiently.

MISSION AND VISION

Preparing for an apocalyptic attack to the end of the world ... in short, to survive as long as possible to inclement we have.

The most common practice is to build a bunker and stock up on water, food and medicine for the whole family. Some of them think they do not need to build any shelter, but be prepared with measures such as the "72-hour pack" containing water, a radio, a knife, a map, equipment, etc. Others choose simply to have a knowledge of the civil protection and learn step by step how to act and protect themselves if things get complicated for a while.

• social collapse: Caused by a global economic crisis, the arrival of extraterrestrial beings, downed power lines, the imposition of a new world order, or a third world war, among others. Even with unemployment, some people begin to take action Preppers.

• Environmental disaster: Activated by earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, hurricanes, melting ice caps, food crisis, pandemics and others.

Eyewitnesses or protagonistas

Bruce Beach (EE.UU. / Canadá)

Bruce Beach, retired school teacher, is one of the oldest preppers of America. From its headquarters in a village near Toronto (Canada) directs an active community of them organized under the acronym SAFE (Safe America For Everyone). It built its first bomb shelter during the Cuban missile crisis in the 60s and since then has been strongly concerned about the possibility of total destruction. In the 80s I had a wonderful idea: why not turn your hobby into a business major? Then he built Ark Two, a labyrinthine bunker consists of 42 school bus buried underground. Each bus can be rented as an apartment and includes a kitchen, shower and separate rooms for children and adults. The Mayan apocalypse has come to him for pearls. As explained to The Canadian Press, the imminent

end of the world has made its facilities are filled, although he does not give much credence to the prophecy and ensures that the real threat coming from North Korea. However, this December 21 is not the day for which it has received more applications: 11-S received 85,000 messages in just three hours.Zhenghai Lu (China)

The Americans and Europeans are not the only ones worried about a hypothetical Mayan apocalypse. As the state news agency of China (China News Service), Lu Zhenghai, a citizen of Northwest China, said he has spent the savings of their entire life (around $ 160,000) to build a boat that would protect flood that he says will end the world on Friday. Its peculiar Noah's Ark, designed by himself, is about 20 meters long, 15 meters wide and weighs 80 tons.

Patrick Geryl (Belgium)

The writer Patrick Geryl takes several years insisting on the idea that the world will end in 2012, not only because they say the Maya but because, in his words, a giant solar flare impact on Earth and destroy civilization. Although Geryl presents himself as an astronomer, his ideas have little to do with science, something that has not prevented him from publishing a book that explains how to survive the apocalypse, How To Survive 2012. At least, leads by example. Took refuge in a small bunker in South Africa and has spent more than $ 130,000 in weapons, ammunition, water purification tablets, canned food ... Everything you need to re-colonize the land.

Michael Sanderson (United Kingdom)

"People ask me why I'm a Prepper" explained retired British soldier Michael Sanderson told the Daily Mail. "It baffles me that question. What I tell people is that they do not understand why they are not. " Sanderson believes that either the end of the world comes not this Friday, is nearby. Therefore it has a secret haven just 15 minutes from home, who will take his wife and two children, with whom he has practiced several drills evacuación- if things get ugly. Sanderson decided to prepare for an eventual tragedy to see what happened in New Orleans after the impact of Hurricane Katrina. In his opinion, the disaster does not have to be global, but what happened in the United States, why will not happen in England? What worries him most is that after the disaster there are people who try to steal their supplies. In that case, it is clear what to do: "I will endeavor to avoid a deadly confrontation, but if we end up in a situation where there are no laws that I have to use force to defend my family."

Yang Zongfu (China)

Zongfu Chinese entrepreneur Yang, 32, is convinced that another world to come sooner or later, and to get rid of it designed a "anti-disaster" areas, which has given the name of Atlantis. This is a huge steel ball about four meters in diameter and three tons of weight stored inside a personal cabin (with belt). According to its creator, they could resist volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, earthquakes and any nuclear attack. In summer she made a public demonstration of wit: he threw the ball, with him inside a ravine, he caught fire and plunged into a pond. The invention is priced at five million yuan (about 608,000 euros) and to mark the Mayan apocalypse, has received more than 20 orders.

Rober Bast (Australia)

Australian Robert Bast is the leader of the prepper community in your country. Since its Survive 2012 website (which curiously has these days unbanner advertising of a savings deposit) gives tips for surviving the disaster and manages its community of faithful. He explained to CNN, has spent more than $ 350,000 in generators, food, water, gas burners and a van with which to take his family to a safe haven that has built away from the coast (about 500 meters above sea level). What is not so clear Bast is what unleashed the tragedy, "the sun may destroy the electric grid, a pandemic flu appears, an asteroid, a comet or a meteor crashing into the Earth or the pole may be reversed magnetic Earth. "Whatever happens, as stated in the last post of the web, better be prepared.
