This is the second assessment ASEAN NCAP conducted on the Toyota INNOVA model. The first was performed in 2016 in which the MPV received 2 ratings; 4-Star for variants that are not fitted with ESC and 5-Star for those that are equipped with ESC and SBR for both frontal occupants. Based on technical evidence provided by Toyota, ASEAN NCAP confirms that the current INNOVA model has identical structural design and similar crashworthiness restraint system as the one tested in 2016. Thus, for the current assessment ASEAN NCAP extended the INNOVA’s ODB score in 2016 to the 2020 model. The new 7- to 8-seater MPV is fitted with 3 airbags, SBR for both frontal occupants and ESC as standard across all variants. Whilst variants with standard 7 airbags are offered in certain available markets. The new Toyota INNOVA has successfully obtained a total score of 82.69 points in this assessment which makes it eligible to be awarded with 5-Star ASEAN NCAP rating.
