IMPORTANT NOTICE
The Race Program will run on time, or at the discretion of the Race Director. Clubs must provide adequate canoes for competitors in each division. Please be ready for your event. The Race Director will not wait for crews to get to the START LINE. Please note that races may be brought forward on the day so please notify all competitors that it is important to listen for changes over the PA system. All canoes are required to carry one PFD per paddler, and must be easily accessible. Always be Sunsmart. Remember it is stinger season – you should wear appropriate clothing. THE PALLRENDA VENUE
LOCATION The regatta will be held from the beachfront at Freemasons Park, Pallarenda, Townsville.
PARKING & TRAVEL Car parking is available at Freemasons Park, and trailers can be parked in the adjacent boat ramp area. (see map next page).

REFRESHMENTS Food and drink will be available at the regatta site. There are no local businesses in the immediate area so competitors are advised that if the normal regatta fare is
not to their liking they should consider bringing their own.
ALCOHOL Alcohol is strictly prohibited at both the regatta site and anywhere along the
foreshore. If any club member is found with alcohol YOUR CLUB WILL BE DISQUALIFIED AND LOSE MEDALS AND POINTS

MARINE STINGERS AND ENVIRONMENTALCONDITONS
Marine stingers may still be present in the water, therefore appropriate protection (full length clothing) is recommended. If you choose to compete without full protection, you do so at your
own risk. Temperatures may vary significantly during the regatta so please ensure that all paddlers and spectators wear appropriate protection for all conditions.

When Signing In for OC6 events clubs need to indicate:
1. which individuals are in each crew for the upcoming race 2. the canoe number (and any identifying feature eg sponsor name) 3. crew name (if applicable)
When Signing In for OC1/2 events individuals need to:
1. Confirm the division 2. Indicate individual/s paddling 3. Canoe number (and any identifying feature e.g., colour of ama)
It would be appreciated if paddlers do not approach the
Sign In desk until they have all of the above details.

3. Turn hard left 120 degrees and proceed NNW for about 10 km to Bay
Rock
4. Turn left around Bay Rock and proceed about 10km South-ish to the
finish line.

Option 2 Bay Tour (poorer weather alternative)
1. The starting line is between the buoys on the Eastern edge of the 250m
short course
2. Proceed Easterly for 3.4km to the Western Middle Reef marker
3. Deviate right approximately 30 degrees and head ESE for 1.4km to the
Eastern Middle Reef marker
4. Deviate right approximately 60 degrees and proceed South for about
5km to the channel marker off the rock wall
5. Execute a hard left turn of approximately 160 degrees and head NNE
for 6.5 km to the pylon in Picnic Bay
6. Turn hard left again approximately 130 degrees and head WSW for
about 7 km to the 500m course start line, Eastern, buoy.
7. Execute a hard right turn and proceed N for 500m to the finish line.

buoy
5. Deviate left approximately 30 degrees and head WSW for 1.4km to the

1. The starting line is between the buoys on the
Southern end of the 250m and 500m short
courses
2. Proceed N very quickly for 250 m (12U & 14U)
or 500m (all other divisions) to the finish line.

2km COURSE: All 12U & 14U events
1. The starting line is between the buoys on the Eastern edge of the 250m
short course
2. Proceed Easterly for 650m to the buoy
3. Execute a hard right turn and proceed SW for 850m to the 500m
course start line, Eastern, buoy.
4. Execute a hard right turn and proceed N for 500m to the finish line.
NOTE: Course distance may be varied according to weather conditions, and start times may change, please ensure you check with race officials on the day and attend all race briefings.

PLEASE NOTE NOVICE SENIOR PADDLER Some events will include Novice Senior Paddlers. These events are for medals only – that is, no points. For this regatta, this division is defined as those senior (that is, adult - not junior) paddlers of any age and gender division who have been members of AOCRA for less than 12 months
OC1 Novice race will have an Open Men’s Novice and an Open Women’s Novice division
Novice OC2 & OC6 events will have no gender restrictions. o There will be One Novice OC2 Race and One Novice OC6 race o Teams can consist of all Novice men, all Novice women or any
combination of either o OC6 teams should have at least 5 novice senior paddlers, with an
experienced steerer allowed. o Paddlers need not be from the same club.
The participants in the Novice Senior Paddler division will not be scrutinised by our officials to see if they meet the category criteria – it is an honour system.
GOLDEN MASTER MIXED OC6 Must include at least one female paddler in the boat crew.
SENIOR MASTER MIXED OC6 As per open mixed, this division requires at least 3 female paddlers in the boat crew.
