    Rural Tourism Any form of tourism that showcases the rural life, art, culture and heritage at rural locations, thereby be benefiting the local commu- nity economically and socially as well as enabling interaction between the tourists and local community for a more enriching experience. *

    People who leave their home to temporarily visit a place other than that in. which they usually reside and earn their money. They should be spending and not earning money from the place that they visit. Their reasons can be for pleasure, meetings or seminars with the intention of learning something about the place like its history, people and culture, etc.*

    is a person who manages and accompanies local or foreign tourists and other visitors within the country in order to provide needed information and explanations specially those relating to the history, archeology and culture of the place visited and in general, any matter which may promote the countrys tourism.

  • Provide them information and explanation about the place or whatever you are showing them free from prejudice or propaganda.Ensure that what is presented as fact is true and that a clear distinction is made between the truth and the stories, legend, tradition or opinions.

  • Never report to work under the influence of drugs or alcohol of offer the same to tourists.Never take advance of the ignorance of the tourist who rely on you for guidance.

  • Use common sense and be honest. Learn to say I dont know if an answer to the question is not possible.Insure their safety 1. Warn about plants that might cause some allergies to some people. 2. Evaluation for those with vertigo or fear of height/ health problem and Thalassophobia or fear of seas or oceans or other large bodies of water.

Presence of pickpockets and snatchers in crowded places etc.Protect the reputation of tourism in our country by making every guided group treats, with respect to the environment, wildlife, sights and monument and local customs and sensitivities.*

  • *Always remember that pimping and dealing with prostitution either directly or indirectly , is no part of your job to please your tourists.Act as representative not just of the establishment but of the country to bring credit to the countrys tourism.

  • Continue professional development by attending lectures and symposium, seminars, dialogs, with peers etc. respond to tour problems and individual complaints.

  • PART-2- GUIDING TECHNIQUE

    Be prepared. Study the place or the tour destination, and your clients.

    Should have the contact numbers of establishments related to job.

    Always make a headcount before the bus moves.

    Introduce yourself properly so it will be easy for your tourists to remember your name.*

  • PART-2- GUIDING TECHNIQUE

    Tell them the duration of the tour, distance or the approximate traveling time from point of origin of destination.

    Be able to identify subjects of political or religious nature and how to avoid them.

    Learn to read map.

    Learn some basic first aid.

    If you believe you have some sense of humor, let them know but make sure your jokes are not offensive.

    Always follow the leave no trace principle. Dispose waste properly. Leave what you find.
