What is tourism?

• Tourism is the travel for leisure, fun,education or business purposes, usually of a limited duration.

• Tourism is commonly associated with trans-national travel, but may also refer to travel to another location within the same country.

• Temporary, short –term movement of people to destination outside their resident places.

Who is tourist?

The World Tourism Organization defines tourists as people “traveling to and staying in places outside their usual

environment for not more than one consecutive year for leisure, business and other purposes”.

Forms of tourism

• Domestic Tourism: Domestic tourism is tourism involving residents of one country travellin only within that country.

• Inbound Tourism: Incoming tourism is also known as 'inbound tourism'. Incoming tourism means travelers arriving in different countries from their own.

• Outbound Tourism: Outbound tourism refers to residents to travel outside their home country.

• Spas are defined as destinations people visit for renewal of body, mind and spirit.

• Medical tourism is the practice of people traveling across borders for medical treatment.

The primary purpose is to provide comprehensive medical care in an environment that integrates spa services.

In addition to the leisure guest, this is a great place for business travellers who wish to take advantage of the spa experience while away from home.

In many cases resort/hotel spas also act as day spas for local clientele and may offer special rates for people that live in the community.

Conclusion• In conclusion,we can say, tourism is travel for pleasure and also the theory

and practice of touring, the business of attracting, accommodating, and entertaining tourists, and the business of operating tours.

• A spa is a location where mineral- rich spring water (and sometimes seawater) is used to give medicinal baths.

• Spa towns or spa resorts (including hot springs resorts) typically offer various health treatments, which are also known as balneo-therapy.

• The belief in the curative powers of mineral waters goes back to prehistoric times. • Such practices have been popular worldwide, but are especially widespread in Europe and Japan.• Day spas are also quite popular, and offer various personal care treatments.
