In celebration of the Tour of Britain coming through Northumberland, we have organised a series of cycle rides throughout the beautiful North East countryside. These rides will range from easy or mid-range which will include 2 knowledgeable guides, to self-led for the more experienced cyclist. Grab your chance to explore the countryside of Northumberland throughout September and October. Places are limited, so please book via any Active Northumberland leisure centre. Telephone numbers are provided on the reverse of this flyer. Key Easy – approx. 15 miles – Great fun for the whole family. These rides will include a bus and bike trailer for transportation. back up and support, and will be led by 2 experienced cycle leads. Mid-range – approx. 30 miles – Fantastic for those looking to ride more challenging terrain. Includes bus and bike trailer for transportation, back up and support and will be led by 2 experienced cycle leads. Self-led – 50+ miles – Perfect for experienced cyclists looking to try new routes. Transport available to start point then cyclists self-lead to finish point or home.

Please note: Helmets are advisory. Any children must be 10 years or over and be supervised by parent or guardian. Adults £10Juniors (over 10 years) £7

10.00 Wentworth Centre Hexham

Easy ride along Tyne Valley to Newburn, then transport back to Hexham. 16 miles, refreshments and bus back to Hexham, approx. 3 hours.

10.00 Wentworth Centre Hexham

Following the Hadrian’s Way from Hexham to Newcastle and end at Tynemouth, bus brings group back. 32 miles over 4-5 hours.

08.30 Wentworth Centre Hexham

Bus takes group out to Rothbury, group self leads back to Hexham/home, approx. 50 miles.

10.00 Cheviot Centre Wooler

Transport out to Etal, cycle via Ford to Kimmerston then turning back to Wooler via Fenton, Doddington & Weetwood Bridge into Wooler. 12 miles, over 2 hours, with cuppa enroute.

10.00 Cheviot Centre Wooler

A longer ride down the coast following the National Cycle route 1, through Belford and Bamburgh. Time for a cuppa before bus transports group back to Berwick. 25 miles over 4 – 5 hours.

10.00 Willowburn Centre Alnwick

Transport out to Boulmer, then riding along quiet lanes back to Alnwick. 16 miles over 3 hours with cuppa enroute.

Transport out to Embleton, riding via parts of the Coast and Castles route and back roads to arrive back in Alnwick. 35 miles over 4-5 hours.

Transport out to Elsdon, riders will self-lead back through some stunning parts of Northumberland to Alnwick/home, over about 50 miles.

08.30 Blyth Beach Car Park

Transport out to Bellingham, group rides back over 50 miles of fabulous Northumberland scenery, to Blyth/home.

Sunday 18th October

10.00 Blyth Beach Car Park

Cycle up the South East Northumberland coast as far as the Drift café in Cresswell, time for a cuppa, then transport back to Blyth. 16 miles over about 2 hours.

10.00 Blyth Beach Car Park

Cycling via Cambois, Newbiggin, and then inland through Longhirst and Morpeth, returning through Bedlington back to Blyth, with a cuppa at the end. 35 miles over 5 hours.

10.00 Swan Centre Berwick

A scenic coastal ride along the Northumberland Coast, via Goswick Golf course, and calling in at Holy Island for a cuppa. The bus will transport the group back to Berwick. Approx. 3 hours out, 13 miles.
