From: Dave AnnadalePosition: Race Director

Dear competitor,As a highly regarded course designer of extreme ultra races around the world I set myself a challenge to design a course that takes in the greatest elements of all other courses I know.

I’ve spent a number of years designing courses in Vietnam, Nepal, Gobi (twice) and Namibia to name a few and decided to combine them into one challenging course of constantly changing scenery and terrain

• Sand Dunes of the Sahara• Glacier of the Arctic• Rivers and Grasslands of North America• Volcanic Landscapes

And of course...

• Physical Challenge of 250km• Demands of Self-Reliance• Diffi culties of Different Terrains• Mental Battle to Finish!

Having scoured the variety of other landscapes and countries I’d previously set courses in, Iceland with it’s unique geology, was the only choice. The Icelandic interior is uninhabited with the nearest road being over 100 miles away, this allows the course to take in glacial/volcanic plains in the centre and head north towards the lush meadows of the coast, also providing a variety of challenging terrain and natural obstacles.

Page 3: Toughest Multi-Terrain race in the worldannapurnaultra.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/race... · team will set up tents for you and also provide hot water, but that should be it,

Imagine crossing the ancient volcanic land scape completely untouched by human hand.

Being only of a handful of people ever to set foot and maybe the last.

Running through volcanic steam vents heading north towards the Arctic Circle.

The Result Is:

Page 4: Toughest Multi-Terrain race in the worldannapurnaultra.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/race... · team will set up tents for you and also provide hot water, but that should be it,

To complete the 250km, 6day, constantly changingIcelandic terrain
