Chautauqua WeekFeb. 24, 25, 26, and 27 at 7 pm

In honor of the adult education movement of the early 1900s, we’re hosting an entertainer or educator each evening. Enjoy period music and fun in-character presenters. We will gather in the auditorium.

Monday: Clarence E. Eddy and Hannibal F. ‘Seven Devils’ Johnson featuring music of the early 1900s with tales of the Idaho mining days.

Tuesday: Experience an indoor slide presentation on the night skies over Boise and Southern Idaho, presented by Boise Astronomical Society. This society is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the education and promotion of the interest in astronomy.

Wednesday: Janet Worthington in character and on stage as Louisa Catherine Adams, wife of John Quincy Adams. In this presentation, Janet will take us inside the life of this lesser-known Adams’ First Lady, exploring her happiness and depression, her failures and successes.

Thursday: Music by Jim Sample and Bob Law, the JB Duo. Wrap up Chautauqua week with this delightful percussion and piano music.

Marge Coalman, EdDVice President of Wellness & Programs

Matters of the heart

February is a perfect time to soak up heart-filled sentiments. Both physical and spiritual. As you enjoy the merriment of the season, take time to think about the importance of your heart health as well as your relational health and legacy. In two articles, Touchmark Vice President of Wellness & Programs Marge Coalman, EdD, discusses the importance of connecting with family (and especially creating an end-of-life plan) and shares helpful information from the 50th US Surgeon General’s Report on Smoking and Health.
