Our Chairman’s Message3.0
As a leading global energy company, Total is committed to building a better
energy future. A company that Invents and implements sustainable solutions,
we are making people's skills, needs and aspirations the focus of everything we
do. Regular consultations with our key stakeholders amongst which are our
customers, employees, business partners, authorities, suppliers, shareholders
and local communities has always kept us abreast with
their expectations. This has enabled us to tailor our
business strategies, decisions and adapt our business
practices to better serve their interests as well as
ours in implementing CSR projects.
The key drivers of Total Nigeria's corporate social
responsibility include managing and reducing the
impact of our activities on people and on the
environment; responding to energy needs while
integrating the challenges of climate change and
natural resources; contributing to local
social and economic development;
promoting equal opportunity and
diversity.
Access to energy as one of the pillars of
Total's CSR actions, has seen the Group
focus on the development of cleaner
energies across the globe. In Nigeria,
the Onigbagbo solar service station,
the first of its kind in Africa was
launched. Closely following that
there was the launch of Wuse
Zone-6 solar station in Abuja.
Through its Awango by Total
program, launched in 2012, Total

Through its Awango by Total program, launched in 2012, Total
also developed a social business model to market solar lamps
providing access to energy for people lacking access to
electricity. The initial goal of reaching 5 million people by
selling 1 million lamp by 2015 has recently been achieved and
exceeded!

also developed a social business model to market solar lamps providing access
to energy for people lacking access to electricity. The initial goal of reaching 5
million people by selling 1 million lamp by 2015 has recently been achieved and
exceeded! This is in fulfillment of its promise to improve the daily lives of
communities in emerging economies.
In Africa we have equally tailored most of our operations to align with the Total
group's vision of safety first.
The Truck driver's training school and track center in Ibadan Oyo state is at the
epicenter of our efforts at ensuring drivers safety, not only at Total but across
Nigeria. This is more especially as the Company is hoping to extend the
services of the school to other users besides itself, working in hand with
relevant government agencies.
In the area of Total's contribution to local social and economic development in
Africa, we involve in actions that directly impact local communities. In Nigeria,
this includes actions like the Skills acquisition program which started in 2006,
aiming at training and economically empowering youth to set up small scale
businesses, the SOS villages sponsorship implemented through the adoption
where it adopted 3 houses where each of the children is provided educational,
welfare and moral development, and the Total Lead dealers scheme which
continues to grow young attendants to become dealers, to mention a few.
Being a corporate responsible citizen of our communities, we need to have a
better control of our activities to reduce the negative impacts they may have on
people and the environment; to achieve this we enter into structured and
constructive dialogue with our stakeholders. For Total, CSR means going
beyond our purely business objectives and investing in the growth of local
communities which helps us realize our vision of working for shared
development!

Our Chairman’s Message
09
Foreword3.0
Committed to Better Energy means TOTAL is, and wants to be recognized as a leading global
energy company that inspires confidence in a responsible energy future. A company that Invents
and implements sustainable solutions, while making people and their skills, needs and aspirations
the focus of everything we do. As an industrial operator, we place our societal commitments at
the core of our Corporate Social responsibility (CSR). CSR integrates both environmental and social
concerns in all our business operations as well as our interactions with our stakeholders. Our
Stakeholders form a very important aspect of our business success; we therefore ensure constant
engagement with them. Our CSR initiatives are developed to reflect our stakeholders'
perspectives.
Some of these initiatives include, Transportation Safety and Road Safety improvement. Safety is
and has remained a major focus in our business. Despite concerted private and Government
sector participation on road safety, the transportation environment still remains challenging in
Nigeria. Generally speaking, the average age of distribution trucks in Nigeria is put at 22 years;
there is also the fact that most drivers, especially truck drivers require constant training in order to
effectively handle road traffic challenges. To contribute its quota to addressing these challenges,
TOTAL embarks on various road transport safety initiatives like the Road Safety Campaign for truck
drivers and the Safety Cube Campaign for School children. The Ultra modern TOTAL Truck Drivers
Training school and Truck Inspection Center in Ibadan forms a major part of TOTAL's safety
initiatives.
One of the pillars of TOTAL's CSR is providing access to clean and sustainable energy to low income
communities. TOTAL has in this vein, offered the innovative product line of photovoltaic solar
lightening solution known as “Awango by Total Solar Lamps”. Awango is an affordable portable solar
lamp with the capacity to charge mobile phones. Our aim is to provide access to lighting for 5% off
the grid households in Nigeria.
Our commitment towards economic development is expressed through our Skills Acquisition
Program (SAP) and the Lead Dealers Scheme amongst other forms of economic empowerment
programs. The SAP has the objective of training and establishing young persons from our host
communities in various trades and vocations of their choice; whereas the Lead Dealers scheme is a
program where customer service attendants of TOTAL Nigeria Plc are groomed and developed
through the ranks to become station dealers under a retail marketing scheme of the Company. The
Company also embarks on various forms of annual donations to the less privileged in our societies.
Education remains a priority in our CSR programs. The Job Shadow is a program initiated with the
aim of exposing young secondary school students to experience practical work life with our
employees. This prepares and provides the students, clear direction and
career path as they progress in their studies. 30 students underwent this
program at its pilot, a program which has come to stay going by the
positive result recorded. Also similar to that is the Scholarship scheme
instituted for our host community in Koko. Each year, the Company
selects new set of beneficiaries to its scholarship program from this
community.
The Company continues to promote its policy of investing in health
initiatives of both the public and its employees through its various health
programs like the HIV/AIDS campaign and Malaria campaigns organized in
partnership with TOTAL E & P, as well as the Healthy living campaign.
Still in the spirit of contributing to the development of its communities, TOTAL
has added an additional house sponsorship with the SOS Villages in Nigeria,
bringing to three, the number of houses it sponsors.
TOTAL will, in its CSR initiatives, continue to carry its
stakeholders along in its programs in order to achieve best
results aimed at ensuring sustainable coexistence.

Towards Sustainable Energy: Key Focus At
Total
To provide sustainable access to energy to as
many people as possible, the supply of
available energy resources needs to be
diversified. Renewable energies will play a
leading role alongside oil and natural gas. At
Total, we focus on solar energy and biomass.
Total Group leverages its integrated business
model to take advantage of synergies among
its various activities worldwide.
These activities are divided into three broad
business branches:
Ÿ Upstream business encompasses oil
exploration and production, together with
activities related to natural gas.
Ÿ Refining & Chemicals focuses on refining,
petrochemicals, specialty chemicals,
crude oil trading and shipping whereas;
Ÿ Marketing & Services business is focused
on supply and sale of petroleum products,
together with activities related to
renewable energy.
The group recognizes the need for dynamism
in tackling the climate change; therefore we
develop systems that enable the reduction in
our carbon dioxide emissions. Also with Total
Eco solutions, we conceive products and
services that reduce negative ecological
footprints.
Total is more than just an oil and gas
company. We are an energy company. With a
forecast of 25% increase in global energy
demand by 2030, 75% of which would be met
by fossil fuels. Demographic and economic
growth in emerging economies will be the
primary drivers of the jump in demand.
As this demand for energy soars, Total is
drawing on the synergies within our
operations, paying attention to the prevailing
needs within the communities where we
operate to offer solutions that combine
energy efficiency and environmental
stewardship. We are positioned to meet this
objective through continuous innovation,
sustainable growth, and our unflinching
commitment to promoting corporate social
responsibility and ethics.

In 2010, the Group ventured into 'Access
to clean energy' through Solar
rechargeable Lamps. Our mission is to
provide accessible energy solutions to
low-income populations based on
innovative, profitable and sustainable
business models. This innovative product
is a perfect fit with Total's corporate
strategy of acting responsibly to facilitate
access to energy for as many people as
possible, against a backdrop of increasing
global demand.
In this context, our primary focus is the
Base of the Pyramid (BoP), consisting of 4
billion people living on less than $10 a day
and whose access to energy generally
relies on costly unhealthy and inefficient
solutions. This is a Social Business and a
reflection of our commitment to
sustainability and impact investment. Our
core objective is to make an economic,
social and environmental impact by
offering "clean", cutting-edge energy
solutions of the highest quality in the
community we play. The aim is to deliver
the best products to low-income markets
by offering the lowest possible prices
without any compromise to quality

Renewable Energy: Making It Happen
In 2011, Total became a majority shareholder of Sun Power, one of the
world's leading solar energy operators. This has brought about a major
change in scale, with a key ambition to become a new world leader in Solar
energy. Today, Total is involved in countless projects implemented with
photovoltaic technology, from rooftop home solar systems to commercial
installations and on-and-off grid power plants. A remarkable milestone is
the Installation of the first Solar powered Service Station in Lagos, Nigeria
and Africa. A second service station is also fully tested and launced in
Abuja, Nigeria.
In response to these threats to
the environment and health Total
developed the acclaimed Awango
Solar Solution. This product is in
line with our vision of innovation
and impact within communities
we operate.

Imagine a world where everyone had access
to energy. Where turning on the lights or
charging cell phones were just mundane
actions. Over 50% of the Nigerian
population is off the grid and almost 60%
have no reliable access to electricity. About
60% of these populatio depend on other
sources of power which includes Candles,
local lamps, Electricity generators etc.
Besides the dangers of fire incidents that
may arise from these electricity sources,
the electricity generators are powered by
fossil fuel.
Fossil fuel combustion from electric power
generation is responsible for 65% of all
emissions of sulphur dioxide. Electricity
generation is the fourth highest combined
source of Nox, carbon monoxide, and
particulate matter. These emissions
including carbon dioxide are the major
contributors to climate change and
environmental pollution. They also pose

health challenges, which may lead to cancer
and health diseases.
In response to these threats to the
environment and health Total developed the
acclaimed Awango Solar Solution. This
product is in line with our vision of
innovation and impact within communities
we operate. The lamps are distributed through our
affiliate network of over 500 service stations
spread across Nigeria and the additional
"last mile" network designed with the intent
to reach and sell the lamps to low income
populations and customers (end users).
The product has helped to alleviate the
pressure on individuals and businesses
arising from the lack of clean energy supply
to Nigerians. This is in alignment to our
strategic intent of protecting people and the
environment, and the vision for providing
better energy

Onigbagbo Solar Station
32
Total launched Onigbagbo solar-powered
service station in Lagos, Nigeria on June 12,
2014. Built in line with our Committed to
Better Energy ambition, it is the first of its
kind in West Africa. The construction of this
service station is part of efforts aimed at
providing energy solutions that are efficient
and environmentally friendly. It represents
our commitment to environmental
sustainability, innovation and premium
customer service.
Making energy better by fostering a
sustainable environment
Onigbagbo solar service station is an integral
part of efforts to reinforce our network
identity with a resolutely contemporary
image; installations that are more energy-
efficient and outlets that blend harmoniously
into the environment. The solar-powered
photovoltaic (PV) panels on its forecourt roof
convert the sun's rays into electricity. This
electricity is used to supply renewable energy
to power the entire service station. Its eco-friendly design, transparent canopy,
earthy and neutral colour tones and green
area creates a warm and welcoming
environment for our esteemed customers. It
also features zero emissions of harmful
greenhouse gases, zero noise pollution, and a
renewable energy source. Therefore, whether
customers fuel, service or wash their cars or
simply get cold drinks at its Café Bonjour
shop, they are partnering with us to build a
more sustainable environment.
Making life better in developing societiesIt clearly depicts our dedication to continuous
improvement, an identity that sets us apart in
the global energy industry. Reflecting our
determination to contribute to local
development and establish long-term roots,
we plan to roll out other solar powered service
stations in the nearest future. These would
help us improve accessibility to better energy
in communities where they are needed the
most. Our ambition is not borne out of purely
economic reasons but out of our passion to
make sustainable and positive impact on the
lives of people in developing societies.

Lead Dealers Scheme
The lead dealers' scheme formally known as Young Dealers Scheme is a credible scheme that
was designed at the instance of the first founders of the company in 1961. The scheme has
become visible and operational in the country. Owing to the need to adapt our business model
to Total Station of Today which has become a “one-stop service station” in the height of the
ever changing and evolving environment resulted in the change of name from Young Dealers
Scheme to Lead Dealers Scheme.
The lead dealer's scheme provides a platform where customer attendants of Total Nigeria Plc
are groomed and developed through the various ranks to becoming dealers managing their own
assigned stations. The scheme became a symbol of hope to many financially disadvantaged
Nigerians. The scheme has helped the company to consistently grow and maintain leadership
position in the market place. We are very elated to have almost all our stations operated by
staff that have grown through the scheme with better understanding of our culture.
