Element of art: Form takes up space (3D) and is real or implied.
Haegue Yang was born
in 1971 and is a South Korean fiber
artist best known for her knitted
sculptures. The sculpture (upper right) incorporates items found around the house!
Knitting is a folk art that uses two
“needles” to create interlocking loops of yarn that form patterns.
After creating a length of spool knitting, what will you make
with it—a functional piece of art like a bracelet? Or an abstract sculpture?
If you don’t have yarn, string, or
thread, try cutting a plastic bag into
strips as a substitute! OR CREATE A
SCULPTURE USING ITEMS FOUND IN
YOUR RECYCLE BIN. Upload a photo
to your Artsonia gallery under
“Element of Art: Form.”
