Introduction
PURPOSE & CONTENTS The purpose of this packet is to familiarize readers with the transitioned force from Active Duty by the Top 10 MOSs. This packet is an informational tool that will display Soldier transitions from the past fiscal year (FY). All charts consist of ONLY the Active Duty Component except for the component chart, which consists of all components. Each series contains two pages of data. Each page examines which Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSAs) and to which states Soldiers transitioned, along with which of the top MOS jobs, paygrade, the top 10 installations, gender, separation type, ages, and the total number of years by enlistment type (enlisted, officer, and warrant officer). 11 and 19 Series examines all MOSs within that series (which is less than 10).
The statistical information provided in the following pages is an examination of data from TRANSPROC (Department of the Army Soldier transitional data), and MSA’s locations by zip codes. The charts are created using a combination of TRANSPROC data and filtered to examine specific criteria.
WHY MSA An MSA is a predetermined land area that contains a population center with at least 50,000 people residing within its borders (Census Bureau). These MSA’s may consist of one or multiple counties; and can be located within one or multiple states. Looking at the inserted picture to the right you can see Washington-Arlington-Alexandria MSA. This MSA is also unique due to the fact that there are multiple Active Duty installations located within its borders. This MSA is in Virginia, Maryland, and West Virginia, and it also includes Washington, D.C. The statistical information provided in the following pages is an examination of data from TRANSPROC (Department of the Army Soldier transitional data) and MSA’s locations by zip codes. The charts are created using a combination of TRANSPROC data and filtered to examine specific criteria.
With TRANSPROC Data, we can analyze Soldier transitions and show the number of Soldiers who entered from a specific area, of those that entered who returned, and from across the Army who transitioned to that area. Our zip code database is created from open-source websites and is updated/verified every year.

11 Series - Infantry, Cont.
The following charts are a continuation of data to represent the Active Duty Army Infantry transitions during FY20.
Veteran Gender is composed of all Transitioned Soldiers from the Infantry series to transition from Active Duty during FY20. The discharge type is the same query, MSA counties, but is made up of the three primary discharge types. Discharge: A separation type used when a Soldier holds no further obligation to the United States Army. Release From Active Duty (REFRAD): A Soldier will receive a REFRAD separation type if the Soldier still has an additional obligation to fulfill to include National Guard, Reserve, and IRR terms. Retirement: All Soldiers who receive a Retirement separation have met all requirements to retire. These Soldiers will receive an Honorable or General (Under Honorable Conditions) discharge. Component is the total breakdown of all three components, and Years on Active Duty is a breakdown of total years spent on Active Duty.

15 Series - Aviation, Cont.
The following charts are a continuation of data to represent the Active Duty Army Aviation transitions during FY20.
Veteran Gender is composed of all Transitioned Soldiers from the Aviation series to transition from Active Duty during FY20.
