The design of the ATMOS S 61 Servant ENT workstation makes your patients feel comfortable in your practice. All the technical equipment is well hidden behind an appealing housing – however, all important functions and handles are perfectly arranged and provide ergonomic working conditions. Regarding colouring you may choose between more than 200 colours, so the system can be tailored to match your existing examination room.

Depending on the requirements, it is possible to optionally upgrade the different modules, in order for you to adapt your workflow according to the increased patient through-put (automatic rinsing, instrument warming, and further modules from the ATMOS S 61 Servant line). This saves time and money.

You can configure your treatment system by selecting function modules for the treatments you wish to carry out. After your initial system has been purchased, it is possible to upgrade the functionality of your unit if required. This can be performed on site by an ATMOS engineer so allows you to adapt your system to meet your changing clinic requirements.

Autostart function

When the suction hose is removed, from the docking station the suction will be automatically activated. Miniaturized light barriers control most part of the basic functions of the ATMOS S 61 ENT workstation. Time is therefore used more efficiently with the removal of manual switching of the light source.

Ear irrigation / thermal nystagmus stimulation

The ear irrigation (Hygrotherm module) resp. the caloric stimulation of the vestibular organ (Variotherm module) is performed quickly thanks to the automatic switching and the ear rinsing bowl with its own suction channel.

Nebulization of medications (compressed air)

Single-handed adaptation of the sprayer bottles and the automatic switching enable a time-saving and hygienic use of medication sprayers.

Heating module for instrument tray

One instrument tray has a heating module for instrument pre-heating to body temperature. Your patients will appreciate this.

Mirror quick heating

At one key press mirror heating is available. This prevents fogging and guarantees a free vision.

DDS secretion container

Thanks to the Direct Docking System (DDS) it is possible to exchange the secretion container with one pull. The bacterial filter prevents you from bad odours in the surroundings of the treatment unit and the inner workings from contamination.

Light module Economy

The ATMOS LED technology enables the use of high-performance LED headlight and LED light handle – without any light conducting cable.

Clipboard

The innovative LED light handle ATMOS LS 21 LED features the high-performance white-light LED with an almost unlimited service life. The light source is directly connected to the endoscopes, therefore expensive and damageable light conducting cables are no longer needed.

The innovative LED headlight ATMOS HL 21 LED makes your life easier: Maximum illumination with white light at a minimum weight of the headlight and cable because no light conducting cable is needed. The use of miniature Li-ionic batteries makes you – if required – completely independent from the treatment unit. Even the LED headlight has an almost unlimited lamp service life.

Quiver for clean endoscopes

Clean endoscopes can be stored in a heated metal quiver, there they are to hand for examinations, if required, with connected light conducting cable. Sleeves are available for the protection of the endoscopes when inserted quickly.

Swab area

Quiver for used endoscopes / disinfection time monitoring

In case used endoscopes are not directly brought to sterilisation, it is possible to store them in a plastic quiver, which, if requested, can be filled with disinfectant solution. Optionally available is an electronic stop watch function which can be activated at one key press. And this shows the duration of disinfection by means of an LED indicator light.

ATMOS S 61 Servant therapy –Radiofrequency surgery in the ENT practice

The ATMOS S 61 Servant Therapy module is particularly suitable for integrating a radiofrequency surgical device into the ENT workstation.

The radiofrequency surgical device ATMOS RS 221 ENT can optionally be integrated in a drawer. When the drawer is opened, all important control elements and handles with electrodes are at hand and are ready for use. The innovative radiofrequency technology is suitable for haemostasis (coagulation) as well as for the perfect cutting of tissue with less scarring (nasal concha). Radiofrequency surgery with bipolar electrodes is used in snore therapy (uvulopalatoplasty).

Safety has priority

The ATMOS SE 6501 Smoke Evacuation System module can be integrated within the ATMOS S 61 Servant therapy so that it can be easily accessed when suction of infectious aerosols is required.

For suction of infectious aerosols, it is possible to integrate the smoke evacuation module ATMOS SE 6501 into the ATMOS S 61 therapy.

Radiofrequency surgery

The integration of the ATMOS RS 221 ENT in the ATMOS S 61 Servant therapy enables easy application of radiofrequency surgery in the ENT outpatient department.

Retractable writing surface

Sometimes you may wish to take notes at the ENT workplace, this is possible by the extendable, stainless steel writing surface which is integrated below the instrument deposit.

Mirror pre-heating

The heated mirror magazine has space for approx. 70 mirrors (size K2 to K7). In order to prevent the mirrors from fogging the magazine is pre-heated to body temperature (38°C).

Deposit for used instruments

After use on the patient you would like to quickly remove instruments from your working area and have them disinfected. The bowl for used instruments is spacious and readily accessible. It is integrated in a drawer and is therefore easy to exchange, but at the same time it is well hidden and not visible for the patient.In case you prefer to deposit the used instruments in disinfectant solution you will appreciate the covered bowl made of plastic. On request all parts which may become splashed are available in stainless steel.

Roller-shutter cover

The roller-shutter cover for the instrument deposit protects your instruments from dust and contamination. In order to protect your precious instruments from theft, the roller-shutter cover is optionally lockable.

Waste bin

The waste bin is easy to open with a light push via the kick-plate on the drawer front. The waste bin makes disposal simple and has a high capacity.

Drawer (airmatic)

The modular construction of the ATMOS S 61 Servant instruments enables an individual configuration of your required instruments. The basic version has one drawer made of steel. Drawers with airmatic function are optionally available. A slight push on the drawer front and it will close automatically so you can concentrate fully on your patient.

In the ENT field tempered water is applied in two fields:n Ear irrigation at body temperature for removal of cerumenn Caloric stimulation of the vestibular system at variable temperaturesThe ear irrigation module 37°C professional (Hygrotherm) provides up to 500 ml/min water at the right temperature. The ear irrigation module 37°C basic is a more simple version.For the nystagmus stimulation the module Variotherm plus is used. Here the auditory canal is irrigated for a limited time with water, having a temperature between 20°C and 47°C, for thermal nystagmus stimulation.

The basic module of the ATMOS S 61 Servant ENT workstation offers a more simple alternative to the sophisticated optic module ATMOS S 61 Servant vision. The basic module enables the use of the innovative LED light source ATMOS LS 21 LED and the LED headlight ATMOS HL 21 LED. The ideal solution when scopes are rarely used. At the same time the advantages of the innovative ATMOS LED technology take effect:

n Damageable light conductors are no longer needed.n LED light source and headlights have a long LED service life of

During the examination with scopes you want to concentrate on your patient. The ATMOS S 61 Servant vision offers the perfect solution for endoscope handling:If required, clean endoscopes can be stored in a heated quiver. When removing from the quiver the relevant light source is switched on automatically. After examination the scope can be deposited in a second quiver which can be filled with disinfectant solution. In case you would like to store the scope in the disinfectant solution for a defined period of time, a LED indication showing the desired disinfection time is optionally available. Frequently asked questions on the smoke evacuation problem

1. Is normal operating theatre ventilation adequate for evacuating smoke? No, the rate of air circulation in the room - up to 24 x volume/hour - is not sufficient to evacuate locally generated aerosols and gases; the user is still exposed to dangerous laser smoke.

2. So a normal room suction system (a central vacuum) is not good enough? No, the rate of room suction in an operating theatre is too low, at 30-40 l/min. Research has shown that a minimum of 400-600 l/min. is required in the operating field.

3. How great is the risk of becoming infected from biological substances during an operation? Research is currently being undertaken to ascertain the degree of danger that exists from using different lasers and electrosurgical instruments. It has been proven that infectious particles can reach theatre staff and thereby create an acute risk of infection via the mucous membranes and respiratory tracts.

4. So are the particles generated during an operation really dangerous? Airborne viruses such as papilloma viruses, proteins such as prions (BSE pathogens) and other airborne bacteria and funghi are dangerous substances that can lead to direct infection.

5. Do surgical face masks help protect the operating staff? No, surgical face masks offer theatre staff no protection against airborne particles. These masks were designed to protect patients from droplet infections emanating from the operating team. Up to 25 % of air breathed in gets past the mask.

6. Are there other reasons for carrying out localised smoke evacuation, apart from the risk of infection? The use of local smoke evacuation, when carried out during endoscopies, minimally invasive surgery and partially open and closed body cavities, gives optimum visibility.

7. How do doctors react to smoke evacuation devices? Smoke evacuation enjoys a high level of acceptance among medics, as they no longer have to contend with an obscured view of the surgical site.

8. What effects do particles and gases have on the patient? During laparoscopies in particular, toxic gases diffuse into the patient‘s bloodstream. Small airborne particles in this smoke (measuring from 0.1 to 0.5 µm) cause ocular and upper respiratory tract irritation.

9. Is there a risk to the patient? Medical staff should be aware of the risks to the patient from laser use and diathermic smoke generation during an operation. Some of the smoke inside a closed abdominal cavity can lead to an increase in methaemoglobin content, which reduces the capacity of body tissue to absorb oxygen.

10. Does the suction device have to be operated separately?

No, the suction device runs in the background; assistant theatre staff do not need to devote any resources to operating it. The smoke evacuation unit is activated automatically when needed.

11. How high are the running costs of local smoke evacuation? The operating costs of the filter system are less than 1 Euro per surgical procedure and the filter unit has a life of up to 52 hours, depending on flow.

12. Do lasers deactivate dangerous airborne viruses? No, research on retroviruses has shown that infectious viruses and constituents of virus DNA are carried in laser smoke. So it is possible to be infected, for example, by papilloma viruses in the laser smoke.
