10) SamoaThe Samoan Islands is an archipelago in the central South Pacific. Located northeast of Fiji, Samoa is one of the best surfing destinations in the world for a variety of reasons. The warm waters and big blows near Antarctica, create a high-quality of waves between April and October. However, if you are not able to make it to Samoa during these months, the rest of the year offers great swells as well.

9) Cloudbreak, Tavrua Island, FijiThis heart-shaped island off the coast of Fiji offers waves for any level of rider, from professional to beginners on the board. However, Cloudbreak is an area that should only be taken on by hardcore surfers. The predominant winds are from the southeast, providing good side-offshore winds for Cloudbreak for most of the year. These brutal waves can form up to 10 meters in size, 1,600 meters off the coast and hold form up to 500 meters, making for a truly remarkable ride.

8) Manu Bay, Raglan, New ZealandIf you are a surfing fanatic, then chances are you have seen the 1960s film ‘Endless Summer.’ This location was made famous by the movie and attracts riders for both its charm and surf. A relaxing, sleepy town which offers great bars and cafes centered around the areas passion for surfing. When it is time to get out on the water, Manu Bay has waves ranging from a meter to three meters as well as the occasional barrel. This location is very low key and is simply a fun and relaxing place to hang out while waiting for good surfing conditions to pick up.

7) Riyuewan, Sanya, Hainan, ChinaNot many would expect China to be a location offering great beaches and surf. But on Hainan Island, off the southern coast, you will find just that. Seemingly untouched beaches with consistent waves making for some awesome rides. Riyuewan Bay is the perfect place for beginners as it is uncrowded and easy to paddle. When the sun goes down, recharge with some fresh local fish cooked in spicy Hainan-style.

6) Rincon, Puerto RicoLocated on the northwest corner of Puerto Rico in the Caribbean, Rincon offers many awesome locations to go surfing. During the winter, as storms cross the Atlantic, Rincon receives long period swells that provide spectacular rides. The clear-blue water is absolutely beautiful and the warm water means you can stay out in the water for as long as you could possibly want. One of the better locations, Maria’s beach, is friendly, easy to access spot. Getting in and out of the surf is fairly easy, but it is recommended to watch where the experienced surfers are moving in and out. Rincon, Puerto Rico is easily accessible from Aguadilla airport making it the perfect destination for those in the United States.

5) Joe’s Point, Sur, OmanThe Middle East is a very underrated surfing location and is fairly unexplored as far as surfing is concerned. Oman, however, is an amazing place to get out on the water. With a long stretch of coast in the middle of the desert and Indian Ocean, there are miles of waves ready for you to ride. With rides lasting up to 40 seconds! This locations is great for all skill levels, from beginners to professional surfers.

4) White Beach, Okinawa, Japan

White Beach is the perfect place to learn how to surf or brush up on your skills. Offering the only sandbar in the region, it presents the perfect conditions to get out and practice. There are several beaches nearby — Aha-Yoko and Suicide Cliffs — that offer up more advanced conditions for when you are ready for the extra challenge.

3) Watergate Bay, Cornwall, EnglandThis area has a lot of charm and is a lot less crowded than many other popular beaches in the area, making it a great place to catch some waves. At Watergate Bay, you will find waves ranging from 12 inches to nearly 10 feet. When it is time for a break, you can grab some delicious foods at a bistro on the beach, including some awesome stacks and locally sourced fish.

2) Tofino, Vancouver Island, CanadaThis location, which is surrounded by a rainforest, is the surfing capital of Canada for a reason. The breaks, on the west coast of the island, are as much fun as they are beautiful. Tofino is perfect for all skill levels but can have some fairly chilly weather so remember to bring a thick wetsuit if you are daring to take on these waves and climate.

1) Les Cavaliers, Anglet, France

Les Cavaliers is bordered by two rocky girders, allowing you to paddle out through the channel into the killer waves. It is best when the there are offshore winds and a west swell. But be careful, you do not want to steal a wave from the locals at this location because they can be aggressive towards tourists!
