Jack Daniel’s Travel Size

Jack Daniel’s is as synonymous with quality as it is with the excesses of rock and roll. Normally, Jack Daniel’s can’t acknowledge the latter with its advertising. However, when you’re talking about the little bottles of Jack Daniel’s, you can give a nod to the brand’s colorful reputation without causing too much uproar.

FBI

The FBI is always looking for bright and talented people. The problem is that most people think the FBI only hires cops or military personnel, when in fact they are looking to hire people with experience in a wide range of careers, from accountants to chemists to foreign language experts. This campaign simply lets the reader know that he or she may already possess the necessary skills to become a special agent, and that a job with the FBI is still just a job, albeit one with tons of cool factor.

Wawa

Wawa is a convenience store chain located in the Mid-Atlantic region. Their commitment to quality and customer satisfaction is unmatched. However, they’ve done little in terms of branding to truly differentiate themselves from their competition. We want to leverage the equity Wawa has in its Canada goose logo to create a fun brand story so that people will have a greater fondness for the company. The campaign would launch in print with a public apology from Wawa’s CEO. Art Director: Alex Jeon

The ads that follow will devote time to goose-related issues. The print work will run as a faux-weekly Q&A column entitled Dear Science Goose. The radio ads will run as a se-ries entitled The Goose Minute, which will highlight important geese throughout history.

In addition, we will introduce a series of goose-related product extensions that will be sold exclusively through Wawa.

The Goose Minute- Ferdinand (radio spot :60)

Announcer: Coming up, The Goose Minute, brought to you by Wawa.

Today on the Goose Minute, we feature famous Canada goose explorer Ferdinand D. Goose. Born in the Time Before Human Time, Ferdinand D. Goose grew up in a world where Canada geese had yet to discover migration. Instead, Canada geese just hung out in Canada all winter long, occasionally flying around in circles but mostly just standing around and get-ting snowed on. It was a bad time to be a Canada goose. But then Ferdinand D. Goose made a bold declaration that forever changed the destiny of all geese. Ferdinand D. Goose: Screw this, it’s cold. I’m getting out of here.

Announcer: And so he did, flying south by himself. The other geese thought he was crazy. But when Ferdinand returned the following spring looking well fed and happy, the other geese decided that Ferdinand wasn’t so crazy after all. The next year, they decided to fly south with him… (Chorus of voices saying, “Screw this, it’s cold. I’m getting out of here.”)… and thus the great tradition of migration was born. The Goose Minute has been brought to you by Wawa, proud supporters of the goose race and goose culture.

Twinkies

Once upon a time, Twinkies were America’s favorite snack cake. People ate them all the time and still managed to lead happy, meaningful lives. Nowadays, smart-minded people view Twinkies with a contempt normally reserved for tobacco products and war criminals. Ok, so it’s not that bad. But it’s closer to the truth than it should be. People need to be reminded that Twinkies are as fun and delicious as ever, even if they aren’t the healthiest food in the world. The campaign would live in print and in movie theaters. Where I Am Now:

VCU Brandcenter - Richmond, Virginia

In May 2009, I received a Masters in Mass Communications.

Where I Was Before Where I Am Now:

2000-2007 - Bars (Various), Oklahoma

I began working in bars in order to stop being a broke college student. This plan proved so successful that it kept me from being a broke college student for many years after I graduated from college.

1999-2002 - Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, Oklahoma

On a cloudless morning in May 2002, oil tycoon T. Boone Pickens handed me an English degree. I still plan on framing it someday.

1997-1999 - Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, Texas

As a freshman, I made friends with two guys named Kevin and Justin. These people still talk to me.

1985-1997 - Union Public Schools, Tulsa, Oklahoma

My mother woke up early to make me breakfast every morning for twelve years. It occurs to me I’ve never thanked her for this.

1978-1985 - Childhood Home (5626 S. 84th E. Ave., Tulsa, Oklahoma 74145)

Somewhere around the age of two, I ate some Comet Powder Cleanser and smeared mascara on my parents’ bedspread. Or so I’m told.

Recognition:2008 One Show College Competition - Bronze2008 Roger Hatchuel Academy- Cannes International Advertising Festival2005 “Hey Everybody! It’s Jim Morrison!” - Some Homeless Guy in Chicago

About Me:There’s an appetizer named after me at a Mexican restaurant in Tulsa. Also, I perform weddings.
