As I advised at the last AGM I am stepping down as your President after serving you in the role

for the last five years. A new President will be elected at our upcoming AGM.

I have been proud to serve you and to work with the Management Committe to ensure that the

Club is managed in a proper way and to husband our income and expenditure in such a way that

the Club remains financially sound and in a position where we can handle unexpected costs as

they arise.

I have mentioned before that the Planning document we put together in 2016 ensures we stick

to a budget whilst forecasting future investments to be made to ensure the club remains in a

suitable condition for you to visit and for many of you to call your second home. I have to say

that we have done that very well culminating in the (almost) complete repainting of the exterior

of both the main lodge and the cottage last year. Entering the cottage is like walking into a

hotel room now with new carpet, furniture, drapes, mostly new kitchen and I know from those

members who stayed in it recently that they think it’s great and very homely. Thank you to those

members who have donated some of the furniture especially Alan Windsor for the dining table

and chairs.

This year we have also started replacing some of the older mattresses in cabins and this will

continue each year as necessary.

You will also notice that just about every electrical appliance at the club has been upgraded in

recent years including freezers, refrigerators, toasters and microwaves to replace the old ones

which were well past their “used by date”. All these things don’t just happen and I would like to

thank the lady members of the committee in particular.

You will all be aware of the fact that our occupancy rate during summer months is very low and

we have addressed it for some time. We see that one solution may be to encourage members

to bring their families for a part of their summer holidays to TALTAC. These days families have

bikes, kayaks etc and they need somewhere to store them while here.

We now have a shipping container on the property behind the Cottage and once secured on

concrete foundations it will be used as storage for bikes, some club gear from the old shed and

a small number of lockers for members who want long term storage of fishing gear. It is our

intention to landscape the area and if required at a later date to add another container. We have

researched costs of various structures and this is by far the cheapest option.

In conclusion I would like to thank your management Committee members for all their hard work

over the years, Michael Cheyne and John Billing for their financial assistance on preparing the

annual accounts, Helen Swetman for washing so many tea towels etc, those members who do

so many things for the club throughout the year and of course, Mary (and Tom) who look after

the property, bookings, finances, members’ needs and so on and on and on. We are so lucky to

have them both and I have appreciated them greatly for their diligence and friendship during my

time as President.

Ken Haines, Club President.

Review reportFor the year ended 31 December 2019

TONGARIRO & LAKE TAUPO ANGLERS CLUB INCORPORATED, TURANGI

John Billing's, Reviewer, report to the Tongariro and Lake Taupo Anglers Club Incorporated.

I have reviewed the financial statements on pages 2 to 5 of the Tongariro & Lake Taupo Anglers Club Incorporated for the year ended 31 December 2019 in accordance with the Review Engagement Standards issued by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of New Zealand.

A review is primarily limited to enquiries of club personnel and analytical review procedures applied to financial data and thus provides less assurance than an audit. I have not performed an audit and, accordingly, I do not express an audit opinion.

Based on my review, nothing has come to my attention that causes me to believe that the accompanying financial statements which have been prepared using the historical cost method modified by the revaluation of certain assets do not give a true and fair view.
