the large diamond in the Smithsonian,

the one that you treasure the most.

Forgive me, it was so beautiful, so sparkling, and so mine.

“You and Miss Bianca will be there with me, right?”“Of course; we’ll be hiding right in your dress pocket.”

Poem 35: Relative Clause Poem“Mice”

Who are rather nice,Who talk in squeaks at times,Who collect treasured items like we do,Who dress in clothes they make themselves,Who are both brave and timid,Who balance their letters on bookshelves,Who witness many goings-on of abuse,Who spritz themselves with scent,Who squeak and startle others,Who scurry in and out of the house,Like companions, like ‘brave little tailors’,Who practice their skills like a knight,

Who gave us hope of escape,Whose eyes glow bright with either happiness or sadness,Whom we have treated like vermin,Which they are certainly not,Who come to the rescue,When no one else can.

Poem 26: Verb Poem

“Verb Poem”Yearning for a better life than the one here,Hoping for a chance to escape the riverboat,Dreaming of a loving set of nice parents,Trying to escape, but caught in the process,Weeping at Medusa’s cruel words of her being homely,Cheering up when two little mice come to her rescue,Returning to the orphanage and finding a mom and dad,Living a new life with her loving parents.

Poems 34, 35, & 36: Haiku“Haiku”

1) The wind drifts through the dark forest, softly moaning

and sighing today.

2) Stars are not rocks, dust, or gas. They are much too fair

and beautiful, son.

3) Rainbows are a burst of color; they resemble fairy lights in air.
