Q: When was the last time you saw Penny?A: She was going downstairs for supper at 6 P.M.

Q: Where was Penny Johnston before then, sir?A: She was sitting on her bed in the dormitory.

Q: What happened to young Penny, Mr. Rufus?A: She either ran away or was kidnapped.

Q: Why would she have run away from the orphanage?A: Penny was sad that she hadn’t been adopted.

“Dialogue Poem”“Bernard? Are you awake?” asked Penny.“I am now. What is it, Penny?”

“I was thinking about tomorrow,” the little girl replied.“You mean the diamond that Medusa wants?”

“Yes; I’m afraid of going down the Black Hole in a high tide.”“It’s alright,” said Bernard, “I’m not too fond of them myself!”

“You and Miss Bianca will be there with me, right?”“Of course; we’ll be hiding right in your dress pocket.”

“Thank you, Bernard; I just needed reassurance. Good night.”“Anytime, Penny…anytime. Goodnight to you…and sweet dreams.”

Who are rather nice,Who talk in squeaks at times,Who collect treasured items like we do,Who dress in clothes they make themselves,Who are both brave and timid,Who balance their letters on bookshelves,Who witness many goings-on of abuse,Who spritz themselves with scent,Who squeak and startle others,Who scurry in and out of the house,Like companions, like ‘brave little tailors’,Who practice their skills like a knight,
