Wellsummerismostdefinitelyover.Atleast it is for those of us who live in the Puget sound area. Notice I said the Puget Sound area. I’d like to give a shout out to those of you who are Tollycraft Boating Club members but do not live where the core of the club lives. Unless you are able to travel long distances, you are not able to attend our big rendezvous at Roche Harbor or any of our mini rendezvous throughout the year and yet you are club members just the same. Thanks for sticking with us!!! We the bridge have not forgotten you and we are trying to formulate a way that we can make your membership in this club a little more worthwhile. Of course we are always welcome to any suggestions. Now for the rest of that do live in the Puget Sound area, if you still go boating this time of year you’re a

heartier sailor than I am!! Cheers to you!Regardless of where you do your boating at whether it be in the San Juan/Gulf islands or California, Florida or Australia or anywhere else, I wish you all a continued great time on our great Tollycraft boats and wonderful holidays to come!!!Best Regards, Your Commodore Pierce Hoover

It has been an amazing summer of boating! We spent over 40 nights on the water, and enjoyed many great evenings with other Tolly owners.

After the Rendezvous, we headed to the Gulf Islands for a week. We met up with Sandra and Trevor Lewis (Paradigm Shift) at Genoa Bay and had a great afternoon and evening together.

Along the way we came across Rosemary and Pete Collins (Sun-Days) at Port Sydney Marina and Pat and Buck Strong (Obsession) at Mill May Marina.

We were cruising the San Juan Islands most weekends and spent three weekends at one of our favorite spots, Fisherman’s Bay on Lopez Island.

On Labor Day weekend we embarked on our biggest adventure to date. We cruised to Princess Louisa Inlet via Otter Bay, Montague Harbor, Ladysmith, Nanaimo, Pender Harbor, and Egmont.

After navigating Malibu Rapids we spent two wonderful nights at Chatterbox Falls.

Our days were spent exploring Princess Louisa Inlet in the dinghy. It is easy to see why this was one of Tolly’s favorite places.

After leaving Chatterbox Falls we headed for the Canadian Rendezvous in Telegraph Harbor via Egmont, Secret Cove and Nanaimo. This was our second Canadian Rendezvous and we had an incredible time. Thanks to all the members of the Canadian Tollycruisers for making us feel so welcome.

On Sunday, we met Sandra and Trevor Lewis (Shiloh) and Marc and Lois Talley (Talley’s Tolly) in Ganges for a late lunch at Moby’s Pub and then evening docktails and appetizers aboard Shiloh.

We moored our boat in La Conner at

Shelter Bay Marina for the summer, to be closer to the San Juan and Gulf Islands. Destiny is now home for the winter in her permanent slip in Edmonds.

As you start planning all those maintenance projects, that need to be done before next year’s boating season, please remember to support our club sponsors.

I want to welcome three incredible club members to the Bridge:

• Theresa Wilson - Secretary• Steve Dittoe - Trustee

Debbie and I look forward to seeing everyone at the Christmas Mini in Poulsbo.

WefinallygotShilohbackinthewater in May after what seemed like FOREVER! And she felt incredibly spacious after spending March and April living on the Tolly 26 in Bellingham. After getting settled again, we were excited to begin cruising. We began with the 2019 Tollyclub Rendezvous where we brought the 26 since we decided to move Shifty from Bellingham to our home marina in Richmond (it is much easier to maintain two boats when they are in the same marina). Andforthefirsttime, theseCanadiansspent some time in the Gulf Islands. We met up with Paul and Debbie Jones (Destiny)inGenoaBay.Thenwefinallymade it back to Port Browning where TrevorandIfirstmetin2005!Then it was a two-week Puget Sound cruise with friends to Seattle for a baseball game and Tacoma for the South Sound mini. Chuck and Monica Corrigan hosted a great event and I encourage you to add this mini to next year’s cruising schedule. It’s great fun in the heart of Tacoma and has adifferentvibefromtheotherminis(that may have something to do with the hot summer weather and Saturday morning mimosas).Forourfinalsummercruisewewereback in the Gulf islands as we made our way to Anacortes for the HUGE North Sound Mini. Over 20 Tollys were docked in Cap Sante Marina and everyone had lots of fun as Sharon

and Pierce Hoover hosted a wonderful event. From there we returned to the Gulf Islands. Thanks to Steve Dittoe (The Big W) for introducing us to Woodstone Restaurant on Galiano Island. WecappedoffoursummerseasonatourfirstCanadianTollycruisersRendezvous. Even with lots of rain, we had an amazing time and enjoyed meeting more Canadian Tolly owners. Thanks to everyone who made this a great event.

We have lots of projects to keep us busythiswinterincludingfiguringoutthe electrical system and upgrading as necessary. Other items on the to-do list are teak, teak and more teak work (indoors and outdoors), redoing the cabinlightingandfinishingourengineproject (it does end, right?).This past year on the Tollyclub bridge has been lots of fun! I’ve enjoyed working on the club’s website, social media and communications. It’s great seeing our members sharing their photos, attending club events and getting involved. And if you have any suggestions or ideas for our

communications, please send them my way—[email protected] big thank-you to our bridge members who have left the bridge over the past few months: Keith Christenson, Marjory Earle,, Justin Woith and Dennis Friederich. I enjoyed working with all of you and look forward to seeing you at future Tolly events. And a huge welcome to new members Steve Dittoe and Theresa Wilson - I’m looking forward to working with you. Finally, some of you met our furry (and purry)firstmatePeathissummer.Foran older cat, she adapted well to the boating life and enjoyed many days on the back deck in the sun and checking out her new surroundings as we marina-hopped around Puget Sound, the San Juan and Gulf Islands. Sadly, she became ill this fall and we had to say farewell to Sweet Pea in early November. Best wishes to everyone for a happy holiday season and hope to see you on the water in 2020!Rear Commodore Sandra Lewis

FIRST TRUSTEE mESSagE

Theleavesareturningandtheoffseason projects have begun in earnest! This was our sixth summer as Tolly owners, butthefirstonTheBigW.This year Charlene and I attended and were warmly welcomed to the Tolly Club events in Anacortes, Poulsbo, Kingston, Opening Day on the Cut, Bell Harbor, and Roche Harbor!

It all began at the end of summer last year in Anacortes where we explored TeravanaandPacificTimewhichhooked us on the ‘48 Within a few months we were owners of The Big W!

This year, club members have been a wealth of information on cruising and maintenance as we got to know our new boat and explored new destinations to the North. Having been limited to vacations and weekends in the past, this was a summer to enjoy retirement and an extended cruise. We headed north on June 19 with ourfirststopinRochefortheTollyRendezvous. We did not return to our new home port of Everett until September15attheconclusionoftheCanadian Tolly Rendezvous! During

this brief :) cruise we returned to our favorite San Juan anchorages, explored new destinations in the Gulf Islands, and adventures North to Desolation Sound.

Taking our time to enjoy the many locations we visited, sometimes more than once, we were not rushed by time or itinerary. My crew came and went as schedules allowed and I even had solo time aboard in the Octopus Islands.

AdefinitehighpointwashavingCharleneflyinbyseaplanetoPendrellSound.

During our cruise we spent many days anchored alongside or sharing a dock with club members. It was great to build on friendships introduced through the minis and the Rendezvous. We helped each other with cruising challenges and enjoyed many dingy adventures and meals on each other’s boats.

If you are new to the club, I would encourage you to join in the fun at the club events this year, it has added a great dimension to our boating

experience.

A word of warning, Tolly owners are a unique bunch of fun loving Tolly obsessed people. Just when you think you have a clear vision of where you are taking your boat, you meet another Tolly owner who has made an innovative improvement or talks of a great anchorage; a new course is plotted.

We have been so appreciative of the club and the members of the bridge who’ve assured that this great group continues. We are looking forward to contributing to the success of the club this year!

With the 2019 Rendezvous in the books and the newly appointed Com-modore in place, things have settled down a bit for my wife and I. We thor-oughly enjoyed our time as Commo-dore and Mamadore and working with the entire bridge!

The planning of the Rendezvous was a lot of work but was well worth it. It was an incredible turn out. A big thank you to everyone who attended, partici-pated and lent a hand. Shelly and I are happy to sit back and relax a bit now, and still contribute all we can to the current bridge and the Tollyclub.

We were not able to attend the Ana-cortes mini as I was out of town on a fishingtrip.Soundslikeitwasagreattime. We recently attended the Port Orchard Halloween mini hosted by Justin and Jamie Woith. It was a fun event, unfortunately the weather was not the best so the turn out was low but those of us in attendance had a great time!

We hope to see a lot of you at the next mini in Poulsbo. If you have not at-tended this mini I encourage you to do so, it is a really fun and festive one. We hope to see some of you “year round

boaters” on the water. Stay safe and warm out there!

Keith Christenson: KeithjoinedtheBridgeastheclub’sRearCommodorein2015.HemovedthroughthechairstoCommodorein2017.KeithcappedoffhistermasCommo-dore with the 30th Annual Tollyclub Rendezvous which featured a very successful 1920s theme. This past year as Immediate Past Commodore, his Bridge and Tolly experience were invaluable to the Bridge.

Marjory Earle: MarjoryfirstjoinedtheTollycraftBoatingClubBridgein2015astheclub’s treasurer. She transitioned to the role of secretary in 2017. With an eye for detail and a great memory, Marjory kept the club’s records and Bridge meetings in order.

Justin Woith: Justin joined the Bridge as a Trustee in 2018. This year, after moving to Rear Commodore, Justin and his wife Jamie sold Miss Beehaven, their 1972 Tolly 34 to purchase a new Ranger Tug. Justin’s enthusiasm and creative ideas were invaluable during his time on the Bridge.

Dennis Friederich: Dennis answered our call for volunteers in early 2019 and began serving as a Trustee. He brought with him a wealth of committee experience and his qui-et humour was appreciated during Bridge meetings. After deciding their Tolly 26, Little Bit, was just a little too little, Dennis and his wife Donna sold the boat and he stepped down from the bridge.

Thank-you also to Gery Delf and Scotty Lee Wilson who were interested in the club’s Treasurer position. While life and other commitments prevented them from continuing in the role, we appreciate their willingness to volunteer.

These are just a few of the many volunteers who help the club throughout the year.
