The latest from Bristol’s hottest new girl band. We talked to 2.0 to catch up on the new album, the tour and their new single ‘Wild things’. “We have very similar music tastes, so we work well together creatively.” he UK has just been introduced to the youngest girl band to make it into the top 20 in the UK charts. Aged 17, twins Jess and Betty Barber have placed in the top 5 in the charts with their new single “Wild Things”, an uplifting Pop tune that is sure to hit the number one spot in the upcoming months. Jess tells The Heatwave, “When we wrote this song, we would have never imagined it would be recorded and sold, let alone that it would be in the top 5 in the charts!’ The twins are still adjusting to their recently found fame as they climb higher in the charts. Bristol, where the duet is based, has given rise to many opportunities for the young pair. They first performed with artists such as Rihanna and Alessia Cara when they first started performing in Bristol. They also recently opened for Alessia Cara, and will also performing at Bestival, Shambala and Big Chill in the summer. “We go to loads of festivals every year to enjoy the performances. Now we will get to be performing at some of our favourite festivals! It’s unreal!” said Betty. Jess told us that she is nervous about getting on stage in front of such a huge crowd but really excited to have the opportunity to perform. Betty told Heatwave, that the duo “don’t want to be confined to one genre of music” “We are called 2.0 because we want our music to be constantly evolving. We want to be creative with our music and don’t want to be restricted in what we can and cant do” We can’t wait to see what creative new stuff comes from these two in the next few months. We will also be looking out for the album and the tour release. T The pair spent some time living in India and want to make sure they can include different parts of their culture into their music. They want to continue to be creative with their work and inspire others to be different and diverse. Which is also the name of their new album. The album will be released on the 1st July of this year, just in time for summer. “Diverse” is the title of 2.0’s debut album. It consists of 11 tracks, all written by the duo. Their song writing skills were developed when they both studied GCSE music at school. This allowed them to learn the technical aspects of writing and producing music. Jess told Heatwave, “We’re so grateful for the musical education we have been given. We’d be struggling to properly write and produce our music now without it.’ Jess told us ‘Betty plays guitar, so she’s always had a musical ear, which luckily we’ve both been able to build upon at school.’ Over the past few weeks, 2.0 have been meet and greets with their fans promoting their new single “Wild Things” They signed copies of their EP in different shopping centres around the UK. The twins were still amazed at the turnout, with around 2000 fans at each meeting.
