Seda’s Overview

The Small Enterprise Development Agency (Seda) is an

agency of the South African Department of Trade and

Industry (the dti). Seda was established in December 2004,

through the National Small Business Amendment Act, Act 29

of 2004.

Seda’s mission is to develop, support and

promote small enterprises throughout the

country, ensuring their growth and

sustainability in co–ordination and partnership

with various role players, including global

partners, who make international best

practices available to local entrepreneurs.

Assistance to potential exporters to improve identified areas of weakness with specific focus on:

Seda identify local and international

promotional opportunities where potential

exporters can test their newly acquired

skills. The main focus is on exhibition

opportunities at major trade shows within

South Africa, as well as on trade missions

organized by the dti abroad

Trade Point Programme

The Trade Point concept was launched by the

United Nations Conference on Trade and

Development (UNCTAD) in 1992.
