CARE

Connected Roadside Assistance Our Roadside Assist Centre is always on call to provide you with a range of services relating to roadside emergencies. A state-of-the-art tracking device installed in your vehicle enables us to pinpoint your location anywhere within South Africa at all times. This improves response times in the event of an emergency, allowing us to come to your aid as quickly as possible.

Flat tyre We will attempt to change the tyre on-site; failing which, we will arrange to tow the vehicle.

Flat battery We will attempt to start your vehicle on site. Where this cannot be done we will tow the vehicle in line with the towing benefit.

Keys locked in vehicle We will arrange for a locksmith to attend to your vehicle. If the ignition is damaged as a result of an attempted theft, we will arrange to tow the vehicle. Any additional labour costs, charges relating to repair/replacement of locks, ignition switches, or cutting of keys will need to be covered by the vehicle owner or their insurer.

Running out of fuel We will deliver fuel to your vehicle on site. Note that the cost of fuel will be for your own account.

Towing costs We will arrange to tow the vehicle to the nearest insurance-approved panel beater, approved dealer or to your home, provided that our towing cost is limited to a maximum of R650.

Inside a radius of 100 km from home (per incident) If the vehicle needs to be towed, we will arrange and pay up to a maximum of R1 000 for the transportation of the occupants of the vehicle back home or to a specified destination, depending on which is closest.

Outside a radius of 100 km from home (per incident) We will arrange and pay for hotel accommodation for the occupants of the vehicle up to a maximum amount of R1 000.

If the vehicle needs to be towed but you prefer to continue with your journey immediately, we will arrange and pay for a rental car provided that the maximum amount payable in respect of this benefit is limited to R1 000.

Vehicle storage If the vehicle is required to be temporarily stored we will arrange and pay for the safe storage of the vehicle for a maximum of 3 days up to an amount of R1 000.

Repatriation of vehicle If the vehicle has been left for repair we will arrange and pay up to a maximum of R2 000 for the cost of collecting the vehicle and returning it to your place of residence after the repair has been effected.

Maximum benefit payable per vehicle per annum The maximum amount payable in respect of all events in any one annual period is limited to R5 000.

At your side, 24-7Tracker CARE is an innovative bundle of services that help you to manage the costs and risks associated with owning and driving your vehicle. CARE does not automatically include Stolen Vehicle Recovery benefits, but these may be included as an add-on if you wish. An additional subscription and hardware installation may be required.

Safe Drive : Breakdown Used in conjunction with Connected Roadside Assistance, Safe Drive : Breakdown caters for incidents like flat tyres, dead batteries and mechanical failures where your safety may be at risk. Whether it is midday or midnight, being stuck on the side of the road is a dangerous situation. Safe Drive Breakdown will ensure than an armed guard is at your side within 30 minutes of notification. The guard will remain with you while you wait for Roadside Assistance. In the event of a flat tyre or battery, the guard will even help you change your tyre or jump-start your vehicle so that you can get safely on your way again, as quickly as possible. Alternatively, if your car cannot be driven and needs to be towed away, your guard will wait with you until your towing service arrives. He will then deliver you safely to your destination. Our National Emergency Centre will case manage each event, keeping in touch with you until the case is closed.

Following a breakdown, Tracker will arrange for a rental car to be delivered to an address of your choice (within reasonable parameters), at no cost to you. You are free to use this vehicle for up to two days while you make alternative transport arrangements.

Safe Drive: Over Indulgence If you have exceeded the legal alcohol consumption limit, you can contact us and two drivers will be dispatched to your location. The driver team will contact you via SMS when they arrive to collect you. The first driver will take you home in your own vehicle while the back-up driver will follow behind in a second vehicle. All drivers have a valid Professional Drivers Permit (PDP) and undergo an extensive chauffeur and driver training course. This service is available in Johannesburg, Pretoria and Cape Town, with teams available in smaller centres like George, East London, Port Elizabeth, Durban, Nelspruit, Bloemfontein and Kimberley. Smaller centres will require advance bookings by 17h00 the same evening.

You get one trip per calendar month, to a maximum of 30 kilometres. Trips in excess of 3o kilometres are charged at R10 per kilometre. Additional trips will be charged at R250 (after your first trip). Extra drops will be charged at R50 per drop. Your booking will be made through a central reservations office, which will operate from 08h00 until 02h00 daily. We will SMS your driver’s name and mobile number to you on the afternoon of your booking. Should you wish to change a collection detail, you are able to directly contact your driver at any time. Services will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis and we request at least a six-hour lead time for improved efficiency. Ad-hoc bookings are also possible, however our response time and your waiting time may be increased.

CARE

Legal Assistance Legal Advice Almost without exception, everybody will experience legal problems during the course of their lives. Tracker offers legal advice 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to make sure you have a lawyer on your side when you need one. Subscribers to this service are entitled to call the Tracker Legal 24 hour advice line for free legal advice. This is an advice line only and no legal expenses will be paid on behalf of the subscriber.

AARTO License Demerit AssistanceShould an infringement notice be issued against you and you want to oppose it, Tracker Legal will assist you with the drafting of a sworn affidavit against the traffic fine, which will be submitted to the Traffic Infringement Agency. The added benefit of the SkyTrax technology installed in your vehicle will allow you to position your vehicle in relation to the infringement notice particulars to prove your innocence.

Arrest AssistanceShould you be pulled over at a roadblock or stopped by a member of the police or road traffic authority while driving and you or your passengers arrested for any cause of action arising out of the use of your vehicle, Tracker will arrange for an Attorney to consult with you. You will not be charged for the first 30 minute consultation (in person or over the phone, depending on the circumstances). Any further legal expenses required by the Attorney to represent you will be for your account.

Trauma Counselling and Accidental HIV AssistanceYou are entitled to face to face or over the phone counselling for individual, couple or group therapy by skilled professionals and free access to antiretroviral treatment in the case of accidental exposure to HIV. This does not include associated expenses, and any costs incurred if you are approached by an outside party without the written consent of Tracker Legal, will not be honoured. You are at all times free to get outside second opinions, but the cost of these will be for your own account.

With SMS Car Guard, you can “lock” the position of your vehicle if you are parking in an unsafe area or if your vehicle will be unattended for a long time. To activate SMS Car Guard you simply send us an SMS lock request from your cellphone. If your vehicle moves before you send an unlock request, you will be notified by SMS. If you are not in possession of your vehicle, you can then contact us and we will dispatch our recovery teams to retrieve it.

Activating SMS Car Guard:

Step 1 SMS the vehicle registration number to 47150.

Step 2 A confirmation message will be received to indicate successful activation.

Deactivating SMS Car Guard:

Step 1 You SMS the vehicle registration number to 47150.

Tracker’s legal services are only available for incidents that occur within the borders of South Africa. The subscriber must be fully paid-up and eligible for its services.

MyTracker Web Interface With any of our GPS-based products, you get access to MyTracker. This is a Web based service that allows you or your family to locate your vehicle online, any time you want, at no additional cost. You can make it your own by customising features like Zone Management and EcoDrive. MyTracker puts you in control whether at home, at the office or on the road – as long as you have access to the Internet via a computer, tablet or smartphone.

Zone Management The interactive map on our Web interface gives you personal geofencing management. You can create, edit and monitor safe zones and no-go zones. By assigning them to each vehicle on your profile, you can preemptively manage the security of your vehicle and its occupants. The moment your vehicle goes outside of your safe zone or enters an area that you have determined to be high risk, you will be notified by SMS at a number you specify.

Reliable Reporting In addition to historic mileage and trip information, CARE gives you access to an Electronic Logbook for your tax returns and mileage claims.

Maintenance free The CARE unit is connected to the vehicle’s power supply, but it has a minimal effect on battery life. To ensure that your vehicle will still be protected in the event of the battery being disconnected, the unit includes its own independent back-up battery.

In our drive to bring you the most effective pre-emptive vehicle security solutions, we have developed PROTECT, an innovative product designed to stop would-be car thieves in their tracks.

In order for you to benefit from the peace of mind offered by Tracker Protect, we may need to install some additional hardware in your vehicle.

Driver Alert Driver Alert takes early warning to the next level by notifying you by SMS if your vehicle is driven without your Protect key fob present.

Intruder Alert and Driver Alert are set up by logging on to my.tracker.co.za where you will be taken through a simple step-by-step setup process.

Tracker PROTECT does not come standard with Stolen Vehicle Recovery (SVR) Services. You may still include SVR by choosing Tracker Alert or Retrieve as an add-on. Existing Alert or Retrieve customers can keep their SVR products and choose Protect as an add-on.

If your vehicle has SkyTrax installed, we would need to add to it the technology that will enable us to monitor the Intruder and Driver alerts. If you do not already have SkyTrax in your vehicle, you have the option to purchase the necessary hardware upfront or over 36 months.

Intruder Alert Just like your burglar alarm at home, Intruder Alert can detect any unauthorised movement inside your vehicle while it is parked. If movement is detected without your PROTECT key fob present, you will receive an automatic SMS notification.

GSM and GPS Technology Tracker PROTECT utilises Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) technology, which means that we can locate your vehicle to an accuracy of within just five metres. Communication is enabled via our advanced GSM (Mobile Communication) technology. The device communicates your vehicle’s position to our Monitoring Centre. Insight about your vehicle usage is extrapolated from the location data and current position to deliver services that help you to manage the costs and risks associated with owning and using your vehicles.

Vehicle Monitoring Tracker PROTECT is always active as it communicates with our Monitoring Centre continuously, with the frequency increased in the event of an emergency. Upon request, the technology allows for roaming if the vehicle travels outside of South Africa.

Tracker Medical Assistance In the unfortunate event of a medical emergency within the territorial limits of South Africa, we will facilitate a call to an emergency response service provider who will dispatch an ambulance or a rapid response helicopter to your exact location. Where appropriate, lifesaving support will be provided to you and, where relevant, you will be stabilised before transfer is provided to the nearest appropriate medical facility.

In the event of a medical emergency necessitating transport to the nearest facility capable of providing medical care, we will facilitate a call to a service provider.

In the case of a poisoning, we will facilitate a call to the 24 hour poisons hotline. This is an advisory service only as a telephonic conversation does not permit an accurate diagnosis. This is available to both adults and children.

Should the need arise, you will have access to a 24-hour suicide and counselling telephone line. The counselling service is both anonymous and confidential, offering emotional support by trained counsellors. Their expertise extends to guidance on social issues like alcohol and drug abuse, violence and victimisation, physical and psychological illness, stress, bereavement and loss, suicidal ideation, retrenchment and many other issues.

Tracker’s technology has been tested worldwide for Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and has been approved by a number of international organisations, including the European Telecommunications Standard Institute (ETSI), a standards body that specifies the performance of radio equipment to be used in land mobile services. Tracker units will therefore not interfere with the complex electronics found in modern vehicles, such as the vehicle’s management system, on-board computers and mission critical computers.

Will the Tracker unit interfere with your vehicle’s electronics?

If your vehicle has been stolen, immediately call our toll-free 24-hour National Emergency Centre. The Retrieve unit in your vehicle is activated remotely and it begins sending a radio frequency signal. Our recovery vehicles and aircrafts are fitted with a Vehicle Tracking Unit (VTU), which picks up the signal from your vehicle. Our highly trained tracking teams track the signal to locate your vehicle and apprehend the thieves with the support of the SAPS.

How is a stolen vehicle recovered?

How will your vehicle be returned to you?

Return of the vehicle is by arrangement between the SAPS and Tracker’s National Emergency Centre. Once a stolen or hijacked vehicle has been recovered, it will be placed in police safekeeping. Tracker will then facilitate its collection once it has been officially released by the SAPS.

Will the unit need to be serviced – is there a service contract?

The unit has an extremely long battery life and a life span of many years without requiring service. However, in addition to testing your Tracker at least twice a year, it is recommended that you test the unit after an accident or after any significant electrical work has been carried out on your vehicle. Retrieve unit includes a 12 month warranty, with an extended warranty and an all-risk option available.

All Tracker units are recognised by major insurers and motor manufacturers.The small tracking device is installed in a concealed position in your vehicle by a highly trained Tracker authorised technician. Our devices have been tested worldwide for Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) to ensure that they will not interfere with the vehicle’s management system and on-board computer.

The Tracker system will withstand the environmental and day to day demands of conventional vehicle use.A compulsory inspection will ensure that you have complied with the conditions of the product warranty if a Tracker Selftest request has failed or in the following instances:

You can check your own Skytrax unit by logging into tracker.co.za and using your unique Login. You will see your vehicle’s position on the map.

In order to ensure that our products and services are the best in the country, we have partnered with the most appropriate service providers in the industry. Tracker reserves the right to amend services or elect new service providers from time to time, as we deem necessary. In order to provide the services as listed, it is necessary for Tracker and/or any of its third party business partners to intercept and monitor data generated by the Tracker unit installed in the vehicle. The services are applicable to passenger vehicles used for non-commercial purposes.

Unwanted Car Victims of car theft or hijacking sometimes don’t feel comfortable driving their vehicle once it has been recovered and returned to them. The trauma associated with the car can have a negative effect on a vehicle owner & family. Unwanted Car closes the gap between the trade-in and retail value as per Mead & McGrouther. No excess is payable.

Track & Tow Once your stolen vehicle is recovered, Track & Tow ensures that your vehicle is safely towed from the recovery location or police pound and taken to a specified address of your choice, provided it is within South Africa. No excess or call-out fee is payable.

Subscription Waiver By fitting a Tracker Stolen Vehicle Recovery or Monitoring Device, you have already demonstrated that you are a responsible member of society, and we appreciate your support and value your safety. Keeping you and your loved ones safe should not be affected by something that is outside of your control. With Tracker’s subscription waiver, we’ll pay your subscription fees for up to 6 months in the unfortunate event of your death or retrenchment. No excess is payable.

Extended Warranty When the 12-month warranty on your Tracker device expires, Extended Warranty will cover it for mechanical, electrical or electronic breakdown, wear and tear and gradual deterioration for a period of 48 months (month 13 to 60). No excess or call-out fee is payable.

Extended Warranty Upfront The cover is the same as the Extended Warranty, but now you can pay a once off premium during the first 12 months of your Tracker subscription contract.

Device Protection Should your Tracker device be removed or damaged regardless of whether your vehicle is in an accident or not, we will ensure that the device is replaced free of charge. No excess or call-out fee will be payable.

All Risk Device Protection All Risk Device Protection combines our Extended Warranty and Device Protection products. The Extended Warranty period covers 60 months, with your warranty covering wear and tear, mechanical, electronic and electrical breakdown and even gradual deterioration. The additional Device Protection ensures that your Stolen Vehicle Recovery or Monitoring Device is protected against theft or tampering and damage regardless of whether your vehicle is in an accident or not. No excess or call-out fee will be payable.
