Institute of Traffic Management (ITM)upang magsanay sa mga lokal at pam-bansang traffic enforcer.

Ayon kay MMDA Chair Francis Tolenti-no, magiging “premiereeducational institutionfor training and [the]continuing educationof all traffic manage-ment personnel, trafficlaw enforcers and acci-dent investigators of

both local and nationalgovernment agencies”ang ITM.

Graduation season is upon us again. Shots of beaming graduatesflanked by their equally proud parents flood our social mediafeeds. But despite the numerous posts and photos, these kids areactually the minority.

According to the last Philippine Human Development Report oneducation, for every 1000 students who enroll in Grade 1, only

120 of those will finish college. We all know that looking for a job as a fresh graduate with absolutely zero experience is tough. But for the 88% of the student population who did not earn adegree, getting a career is even tougher.

Fortunately, there are companies like SYKES who offer equalopportunities to fresh graduates and undergraduates alike.

Clarita Dulay, who has been with SYKES for eight years now, shares a familiar story. “I had to stop schooling so I can helpaugment my family’s finances. A friend encouraged me to applyin SYKES. I was impressed by the quick and smooth one-dayapplication process so I accepted the offer. Now, I am a TeamManager here.”

Financial problems also forced Mark Labrador to leave school. “When my father lost his job, I decidedto get a job instead of continuing my studies. I’m happy that I chose SYKES because it opened a lot ofopportunities for me. Even though I was an undergraduate, I got promoted on my first year. When I decidedto go back to school, I got financial support from the company through study loans. This year, I will begraduating from my 4-year course.”

As a company, SYKES is proud of its strong Culture of Support which is evident in the way it trains anddevelops people. The company even has a pre-hire training program called SYKES Academy to helpapplicants improve their communication skills.

“SYKES provides training to help employees as their advance in their careers. Superiors also value yourinputs and treat everyone equally regardless of their educational background,” affirms Clarita.

“One lesson I learned in SYKES is to never give up on your dreams. As long as you keep your eye onthe goal and you are given the right support, nothing is impossible,” adds Mark.

Getting a college degree will always be important but being an undergraduate need not be the end of theroad for you. SYKES believes in giving opportunities and support to people who are willing to succeed tomatter what.

You too can be part of SYKES, the officially recognized pioneer in the call center industry. Get hired onthe spot during our Job Hunt in Trinoma or walk in at any of our recruitment hubs.

Hillary Clinton for US president 2N

EW YORK—Hillary Clintonwill take another stab atcracking what she calls “the

highest and hardest glass ceiling” onSunday (Monday in Manila) when shestarts a long-awaited second run forthe White House as the formidableDemocratic front-runner.

Clinton is expectedto finally announceher candidacy for USpresident, ending pro-longed speculationthat she once againseeks to become thefirst woman elected tothe White House.

Seven years afterher bitter nominationdefeat to Barack Oba-ma, the former secre-tary of state and one-time first lady wouldenter the race as theDemocratic Party’s

overwhelming fa- vorite, as Clinton andher rivals gird for abruising,18-month campaignslog.

Her announcementis expected to be de-livered via socialmedia—perhaps in atweet—and accompa-nied by a campaignkickoff video high-

lighting her economy-focused political phi-losophy, according toUS news outlets citingsources close to Clin-ton operations.

It is expected totrigger a donor del-uge from a vast net-

work of supporters who have long waitedfor her to officially enter the race, a

move that would al-low them to con-tribute directly to her2016 election effort.

Clinton’s cam-paign-in-waiting hasorganized for monthsbehind the scenes, bringing on key staffers and advisers, plotting outreach op-erations and strategiz-ing.

    On Saturday, the

    campaign team hun-

kered down in Clin-ton headquarters inBrooklyn, New York,

where upcoming cam-paign manager Robby Mook reportedly de-livered a memo tostaff urging teamwork in the months ahead.

“We are a diverseand talented family … and have each oth-er’s backs,” the memostates, according toPolitico, perhaps in aneffort to avoid the in-fighting among top

    aides that marredClinton’s 2008 run.

    Praise from ObamaThe 2016 cam-

paign goal, the memoadds, is “to give every family, every smallbusiness, and every

American a path tolasting prosperity by electing Hillary Clin-ton the next presidentof the United States.”

On Saturday, Clin-ton earned highpraise from Obama, although experts

warn she will have totread a fine line inhow closely she alignsherself with the in-cumbent.

“She was aformidable candidatein 2008. She was agreat supporter of

mine in the generalelection. She was anoutstanding secretary of state. She is my friend,” Obama saidat a regional summitin Panama.

“I think she wouldbe an excellent presi-dent,” Obama said.

The US press hasbeen awash withfevered will-she-or-

     won’t she for months.

‘Kissing is just part of work’

Carmina insists she had todo the highly publicized kiss-ing scene with Paulo for Alexato come alive. The actress ex-plains, “She was hurt badly ina previous romance. She seesCarlos as her savior.”

The series is about twobrothers, Gael (Jericho Ros-ales) and Carlos, who are sep-arated by tragedy. Their lovefor one woman, Mia (MajaSalvador), brings them togeth-er.

Intimate scenesCarmina is not allowing her

twins, Cassandra and Maver-ick, 14, to watch “Bridges” not

only because of her “intimatescenes” with Paulo but alsobecause of the kind of job Miahas. “She’s a star dancer in aclub,” Carmina says. “I

wouldn’t know how to explain what women like Mia do and why.”

She’s not judging these women, Carmina, 39, stresses.“This happens in real life. Butshould I expose the childrento it this early? I have not dis-cussed that with Zoren(Legaspi, her husband). If ev-er, we’d like the kids to hearthe details from us first.”

    Just a role

Carmina didn’t have to ask Zoren’s permission to do thekissing scene with Paulo be-cause, she says, “We respectand trust each other. Plus, I’man actor. I have to continuechallenging myself. Viewersare intelligent enough toknow this is just a role.”

Unlike Alexa, Carmina says, she never got attracted to a

younger guy. But she admitsthat she found Paulo (not thecharacter) “mysterious, some-one you’d want to know bet-ter.”

The kissing scene was shoton their first day at work. “We

were both uncomfortable,”Carmina recalls. But Paulo

was “such a gentleman, very respectful. He kept asking if it

was okay to touch me here orthere—I appreciated that.”

There will be no bed scenesfor them, she clarifies. “What I

know is that Carlos will fallin love with Mia, and this will be a big problem for Alexa.”

She likes how theshow is written, Carminasays. “The characters are

very human and relatable. They do things only be-cause they are reactingto situations—much likethe way we handle sit-uations in life.”
