TODAY • SATURDAY 1 APRIL 2017 8 ELECTRICITY TARIFF REVISION (1 Apr to 30 Jun 2017) For the quarter 1 Apr to 30 Jun 2017, electricity tariffs will increase by an average of 6.1% or 1.20 cents per kWh compared to the previous quarter. This is due to a 12.0% increase in the cost of natural gas for electricity generation. Tips on how to save electricity Choose an energy-efficient appliance by checking the energy labels. The more ticks, the more energy efficient the appliance is. Switch off electrical appliances, such as TVs, computers, air-conditioners, fans and lights when not in use. Switch off at the power socket to save standby power. If you use an air conditioner, set the temperature at 25°C. A household can save more electricity for every degree raised. ELECTRICITY TARIFF REVISION (1 Apr to 30 Jun 2017)For the quarter 1 Apr to 30 Jun 2017, electricity tariffs will increase by an average of 6.1% or 1.20 cents per kWh compared to the previous quarter. This is due to a 12.0% increase in the cost of natural gas for electricity generation.
