Townsville City Council is committed to supporting maintenance and development of our city’s sporting infrastructure. Project Background: This year Council will be undertaking the $11.3 million Tobruk Memorial Baths redevelopment. The Tobruk Memorial Baths are over 60 years old and in need of redevelopment to ensure the community and visitors can continue to enjoy the much loved facility. This project will do this local asset great justice and ensure it is cherished and respected for generations to come. Project Includes: The redevelopment includes: • Decommissioning the existing 50-metre and toddler pools and replacing them with brand new pools • Toilet and shower refurbishment • New shade structure • Replacement of pool equipment. Timeframe: The Tobruk Memorial Baths will be closing from Monday 12 August 2019 to allow for inspection works, prior to construction starting later in the month. The redevelopment is expected to take several months, with a tentative re-opening date of February 2020 (weather permitting).
