    Demand Planning

    There is no separate process for demand management, so an excerpt from MRP process has

    been taken.

    Versatility is the distinctive feature of the production planning in N!. The material

    re"uirement planning is done centrally at plant level

    Presently planning is done for a #hole month based on inputs from marketing. The monthly

    calendar considers the #orking days and the #orking hours in the organi$ation.

    %n &st of every month, sales department in consultation #ith '%% prepares a list of various

    products and its "uantities #hich are re"uired by them to fulfill the customer(s re"uirement.

    Sales and Operation Planning (SOP) and Demand Management (DM)

    Definition of SOP:

    /ales 2 %perations Planning 3/%P4 is a flexible forecasting and planning tool #ith #hich sales,production, and other supply chain targets can be set on the basis of historical, existing, andestimated future data. /%P is particularly suitable for long5 and medium5term planning. /%P isdone at product level.

    Constraint in SOP:

    /%P is suitable for the planning of finished materials, but not for the planning of the materialscomponent parts.
