Harmful Effects of Tobacco

& Nicotine

Use

Tobacco use is the leading cause of preventable death and disability in the United States.

Any form of tobacco use, such as cigarettes, vaping, chew/dip tobacco can cause health problems.

Smoking has been linked to lung disease, cancers, and heart disease.

Costs to Society with Tobacco and Nicotine Use

The US spends more than $300 billion a year, including: Est. $170 billion in direct medical care for adults & more than $156 billion in lost productivity

A person smoking one pack of cigarettes a day will spend about $2,415.60 a year on the habit. Two packs = $5,000

Selling nicotine/tobaccoproducts to minors is illegal. Using tobacco/nicotine at school can lead to suspension or expulsion.
