To Whom it May Concern, Interventional Pulmonology is the major focus of my clinical practice, research and education. Interventional Pul-monology is a relatively new subspecialty of Pulmonary Medicine that involves highly technical diagnostic and therapeutic procedures on the airways, lungs and pleura. These require very specialized skills that are available only in a small number of academic centers in the U.S. and around the world. I did my formal training in Pulmonary, Critical Care, Sleep Medicine, and Interventional Pulmonology in the U.S. and an additional Interventional Pulmonology training at the Thoraxklinik, Heildelberg University-Germany. I am certified in Interventional Pulmonology by the American Association of Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonol-ogy. I created the first Interventional Pulmonolgy Program in Latin America. I was a pioneer in introducing new tech-nology to the region like bronchial thermoplaty for asthma treatment, endobronchial valves and coils for endo-scopic lung volume reduction, lineal and radial endobronchial ultrasound, the use of hybrid and biodegradable airway stents. As an expert in this field, I have been invited to participate in multiple national and international courses through-out the world to teach advanced diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopy, endobronchial ultrasound, and pleural procedures. For the last four years I have been invited to participate at plenary conferences as speaker and train-er during work-shops at the European Respiratory Society Meeting, the world biggest respiratory meeting. To provide education and training in these new and innovative technologies, we have created the Iberoamerican Symposium of Basic and Advanced Bronchoscopy (SIBBA). I am the Co-Director of this annual academic activity that is held in different countries of Latin America. I am the Director of the International Interventional Pulmonology Fellowship for Latin America, which was estab-lished in 2009. The primary objective of this multi-institutional program is to provide a rich training experience for fellows who will serve the needs of local patients. This program has performed in partnership with BIDMC and the Thoraxklinik, Heidelberg University-Germany. It has the participation of other prestigious universities like Cam-bridge University-UK. Thus far, the program has trained six graduates who are now leaders in their region I am at the Editorial Board of three of the main journals related to Interventional Pulmonology: Journal of Bron-chology and Interventional Pulmonology, Respiration Journal, and Pleural Journal. For the last five years and to provide procedural education to trainees in chest medicine, I have been invited to participate at two-annual courses: 1) “Introduction to Basic Bronchoscopy and Pulmonary Procedures,” and 2) “Introduction to Interventional Pulmonology.” organized by the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Now I am the Co-Director of “Introduction to Interventional Pulmonology” course. Because of my background and experience, I have participated in creating the “Endobronchial Ultrasound Train-ing Program” for the European Respiratory Society, the “Lung Cancer Guidelines” for the Latin America Thoracic Society (ALAT) and the “Bronchology Guidelines” for the Chilean National Institute of Health. I am also deeply committed to the advancement of my field on the national and international scene. Specifically, I am regularly invited to play a leadership role in educational activities beyond my institution, including presenta-tions at national and international conferences and hands-on courses. I am widely recognized as an expert in the Interventional Pulmonology field, in America and Europe.

Hobbies: I sailed across the Atlantic Ocean from Miami to Spain on a 31-feet sailboat together with my brother, just the two of us in our twenties. I was part of the 1998 Argentinian Army Expedition to the Antarctica as junior physician on the icebreaker ship. I enjoy biking, hiking, swimming, jogging and snow skiing.
