Ordered in 2014 by a client, Stoilensky Mining and Beneficiation Plant (SGOK), a part of NLMK Group, is one of the largest of its kind in Europe.

This high tech facility took two years to build. RHI carried out the construction part of the project including whole construction work under a turn-key contract, which covers building and civil work, steel structure fabrication, erection of all equipment, mechanical work, piping, painting, cold-run commissioning and E&I installations.

The client contracted the EP portion to the consortium of Siemens VAI and Outotec.

The completed plant has a design capacity of 6 million tonnes of pellets per year. The best available technology and equipment was selected during the design phase.

The largest kiln in Europe ensures the plant’s high performance at 780 tonnes of pellets produced per hour.

The concept behind the design of the pelletizing plant is that of an environmentally friendly, waste-free facility, in which waste charge material and captured dust are introduced back into production. A high efficiency dedusting system captures up to 98% of emissions.

In November 2016, RHI completed the construction of the one of the World’s largest pelletizing facilities located in Stary Oskol, Belgorod Region, Russia.

The grand opening ceremony of the pelletizing plant, which was held on 29 November, was led by the Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, and attended by Dr. Erman Ilıcak and RHI President Alptekin Tizer.

All key persons who were involved in the project from RHI side were awarded a certificate of appreciation by the Client.

On 31 October, 2016 at 14:00 the first test production was started within the scope of hot tests at the SGOK construction site after the completion of all cold tests.

In ten days, about 20 thousand tonnes of iron ore pellets were accumulated in the warehouses. The produced pellets were sent to the steel mills of NLMK (the owner) located in Lipetsk.

At this moment, the daily production capacity of the plant is 4,000-4,500 tonnes per day. The furnace has reached the designated temperature of about 1200 degrees.

In the beginning of December our President Alptekin Tizer and Vice-President Kaan Alkan visited the Shell SDA Project Sites in Rotterdam. This project is a new collaboration between RHI and Ballast Nedam Industriebouw. During the visit the new office with a fabrication yard was opened.

Implementation Period: Our work started in April 2016 and the majority of activities will be finished in March 2017.

SDA stands for Solvent Deasphalter. This new unit will remove heavier fractions from crude oil, allowing the refinery to upgrade a larger portion of its oil intake into lighter, high grade products.

In consortium with Japanese Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Sojitz corporation, RHI reached mechanical completion at the Complex of Acrylic Acid and Acrylates in Salavat, Russia. Ordered for RHI in August 2013 by Russian Acryl Salavat Company, which is a 100% subsidiary of Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat, the complex will be capable of producing 80,000 tpy of Acrylic Acid, 35,000 tpy of Glacial Acid and 80,000 tpy of Butyl Acid. On December 19, 2016, RHI and consortium partners received the Provisional Acceptance Certificate. RHI carried out the “C” part of the EPC contract, and later, some components of the “EP” part were also given to our Company. The Final Acceptance Certificate signing and opening grand ceremony is scheduled for April 2017.

At the beginning of December 2016, we received good news from two other current projects. The PhosAgro Aommonia Plant Site in Cherepovets, Russia has surpassed the milestone of 6 million man-hours, and the TACE Turkmenistan HDPE/PP Plant Site in Kiyanly, Turkmenistan has surpassed 5 million man-hours, both without an LTI.

At the Sibur ZapSib-2 Ethylene Project located in Tobolsk, Russia, in September, October and November, a total of 34 pieces of heavy lifting equipment weighing 7,028 tonnes were assembled. The Ethylene Cracker Unit consisted of 18 columns and 16 pieces of heavy equipment. As planned, the installation started on 5 September and ended on 25 November.

The most time-consuming installation of the 3 month period was that of the two heaviest columns, code 21-C-5510A and 21-C-5510B, with a height of 106.10 meters and a weight of 787 tonnes.

The capacities of cranes used at the construction site in 2016 are between 600 - 1600 tonnes.

The transportation of the equipment to the construction site was achieved by way of water through the Suez Canal and Far East ports, then via railways and highways.

Kawasaki Heavy Industries President Tatsuya Wantanabe, General Director Takashi HIRAI, Fuji Oil Board Member Kohji Wantanabe and other senior executives of the companies visited the GTG site.

Fuji Oil is one of Japan’s most experienced companies in dealing with oil and gas, and visited our project at the invitation of Kawasaki Heavy Industries.

During the visit, the special pipes manufactured by Renaissance Heavy Industries in GTG Project Pipe Shop attracted the attention of the delegation, who walked through the whole of the project and mobilization areas.

On 1 December, 2016, Dr. Erman Ilıcak visited the construction site of PhosAgro Ammonia Production Plant being built by RHI in Cherepovets, Russia. The project is expected to have the highest ammonia production capacity in Russia and Europe with 2,200 tonnes per day. During the visits Dr. Erman Ilıcak and RHI Senior Managers - Mr. Alptekin Tizer, Mr. Mustafa K. Özakay and Mr. Hakan Malta completed the following activities;

visitors an opportunity to monitor the biodiversity of animals and plants of the southern taiga of Western Siberia under the human impact of the Tobolsk industrial site’s enterprises.

On September 22, 2016, Renaissance Heavy Industries opened its first Education Center within Sibur Zapsib-2 Project, with a full-time training supervisor who gives professional, practical and theoretical education on scaffolding.

The aim of this Center is not only to educate the scaffolders but also to raise awareness of the scaffolding within the company. The Center is opened to everyone from other disciplines who is willing to get education in this sphere. The aim is also to enhance quality and keep the projects within budget limits by manufacturing safe and accurate scaffolds in accordance with international standards.

Moreover, when needed, the scaffolders who have completed their education can be transferred to other RHI projects by getting an appropriate scaffolder position based on their education level.

Ankara Macunköy Professional Education Center, which has been functioning within Rönesans Holding since November 2015, was accredited by the Russian welding committee NAKS (National Agency of Welding Control) on 28 November 2016 (number ЮР-3ГАЦ-23АП). It received the title of the only competent authority for granting welder certification in Turkey.

The welders who can successfully complete the training and tests at the Professional Education Center will have a right to receive NAKS certificates. Our Education Center will be able to provide service not only for Rönesans Holding staff, but for all companies operating in Russia.

PHOSAGROAMMONIA PLANTFor the first time within RHI, a professional project for a complex scaffold has been carried out in coordination with the St. Petersburg design office, and the installation of scaffolding which meets all international standards was completed with zero accident by means of pipe and clamp method with 120 tonnes of material weight (RHI’s highest scaffold).

This type of installation is also being carried out for other company projects.

On November 2-3, 2016, RHI Vice President Ahmed Abdullayev attended the “CIS & CEE Downstream Project Management Conference” in Vienna. Top refining and petrochemicals managers from Russia, Central Asia and Eastern Europe came to share their experience delivering projects on schedule and ensuring cost optimization.

During the conference, the awards ceremony was held in three categories. The inaugural Downstream Project Management Awards Ceremony took place at the beautiful Art History Museum (Kunsthistorisches Museum) in Vienna, which was opened exclusively to the attendees of the conference.

We were particularly pleased with the Project of the Year Award, which was given to the Project of Vacuum Gasoil Deep Conversion Complex at Volgograd Refinery for Lukoil. In this project RHI performs construction and mechanical works on EPC terms.

Additionally, the award in the category of Project Manager of the Year was given to Maxim Savchenko, Director of Strategic Development and Projects, SIBUR. RHI has been involved in all three projects of SIBUR. Last of them is the ongoing project Sibur ZapSib-2, where RHI implements construction of a Ethylene Cracker Unit with the production capacity of 1.5 million tonnes of ethylene per year.

CIS & CEE DOWNSTREAM PROJECT MANAGEMENT CONFERENCE

Events

“RHI” Company, as a member of the Expert Group on the implementation of the “Future Growth Project of Tengizchevroil”, took part in the 9th meeting held on 28 November 2016 in Astana. The meeting was held within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding on the implementation of the “Future Growth Project” between the government of Kazakhstan and TCO. The MOU outlines the basis and mutual commitments for project promotion. The 9th meeting of the Expert Group considered an extensive TCO plan for local content in the

FGP- WPMP (Future Growth Project - Wellhead pressure management project).

“RHI”-”ATK” Consortium is a potential contractor for the Project. The Expert Group provided information on the current, local status of the project’s realization and the visions of the Kazak Ministry of Energy and the National Agency of Local Content Development (NADLoC) regarding the procurement plan and the participation of foreign companies in the FGP-WPMP.
