After Jesus died on the cross, He showed up to alive to different people for about a month. On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: "Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. 5 For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit."

8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my

witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria,

and to the ends of the earth."

AC 1:9 After he said this, he was taken

up before their very

eyes, and a cloud hid him

from their sight.

An angel said “what are you looking at, he’s coming back.”

The waited and prayed like Jesus said, then the Holy Spirit’s

power came down.

The people were so powered up that they started telling everyone

around what was going on.

People understood them even though they didn’t know the language,

because they were from all other countries.

Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to give His followers great power.

Now people could do the same miracles That Jesus did.

Now they had the power to tell the whole world about Jesus.

Listen to me! Jesus did many wonderful miracles while He was on

earth. Then He was killed by you who were in that crowd.

But God raised Jesus from the dead. He is God's only Son. We know that He has returned to

Heaven and now sits on His throne. Today, He sent us His Holy Spirit to be our Helper here on

earth.

The crowd of people asked Peter, "What must we do to receive this power

that the Holy Spirit gives?"

Peter said, "You need to ask Jesus to forgive you for the wrong things you have done and you must be baptized in water. That is what Jesus is

all about."

The Holy Spirit’s power helped

spread the news of Jesus around

the world. It even spread to

Indiana.

People believed in Jesus because they saw miracles of the Holy Spirit.
