Principal’s message
My congratula ons go to all the students who par cipated in the Gobondery Cup and the Gobondery Shield last week. Despite extremely hot, dry and tes ng weather, all reports indicate our students had a great me at Trundle. It was very pleasing to hear from the supervising teachers about the praiseworthy behaviour, a tude and sportsmanship demonstrated by To enham Central School par cipants. Mrs Lindsay was par cularly impressed with the secondary student’s efforts ‐ well done everyone!
Many parents, who I hope are now recovering from the pressures of harvest, a ended a very entertaining assembly last Friday. It was great seeing Mrs Smith’s K/1/2 students’ story, ‘Pete the Perch’ and Mrs A enborough’s Year 2 students did an equally outstanding job making and reading their acros c poems.
A highlight of the assembly for me, was presen ng eleven students with their Gold Awards ‐ Harry Chase, Sophie Hopkins, Henry Baldwinson, Bree Adam, Kayla Anderson, Grace Barbary, Zanthie Hewe , Alice Radford, Archie Baldwinson, Isabelle Lindsay and William Horsburgh. Six students received their Silver Awards and my congratula ons also go to those six students and all the students who received Merit Cer ficates and Sports Awards.
This week there are a number of major events and ac vi es to look forward to including:‐
THE YEAR 12 GRADUATION
At the Year 12 Gradua on Dinner we will formally farewell Hannah Smith and Bridget Benne . This special event commences at 6.30pm at the To enham Golf Club.
THE WESTERN CHALLENGE DEBATING GRAND FINAL
This Thursday, our primary deba ng team; William Horsburgh, Kira Roberts, Chloe Harley and Madi Hopkins will be par cipa ng in the final of the Western Challenge deba ng compe on. To reach the finals of the compe on, for the second year in a row, is an amazing achievement. It speaks volumes about
the quality of our primary debaters, and of Mrs Mar n’s expert coaching. This final debate is against Parkes PS in Parkes on Thursday ‐ our best wishes to all team members, we trust you will have a good debate!
THE BURGOYNE DEBATE
This week we will be enjoying the Burgoyne Debate, which is on Wednesday, 25th November. This is always an entertaining evening with the Year 5 and Year 6 deba ng teams compe ng for the coveted and pres gious Burgoyne Shield.
THE SECONDARY SYDNEY EXCURSION
Secondary students will be par cipa ng and enjoying their Sydney excursion this week. Mrs Jarvis has organised a wonderful i nerary with a good mix of educa onal and recrea onal ac vi es. On the first day of the excursion students will be visi ng the Parkes radio telescope and Charles Sturt University at Bathurst. Another part of their work involves comparisons of Lachlan Shire Council and Penrith City Council opera ons. It should also be noted that Penrith City Council and To enham Youth Club have made generous contribu ons to this excursion.
Prepara ons are underway for our Presenta on Ceremony which will be on the morning of Wednesday, 16th December, which is also the last day of school for students for 2015. I would ask all parents to keep this date free.
On a personal note I would like to inform the To enham school community that I will be on leave, Term 1, 2016.
Trus ng everyone will have a great week!

SWIMMING NOMINATION FORMS
Nomina on forms have been sent home for the swimming carnival next year. These need to be returned as soon as possible. For those parents with 8 year old children in Year 2 it is easier to complete the nomina on form now and send it in then see how they go over the holidays. If you feel your child cannot swim in the carnival they can be taken out at the beginning of next year.

Congratula ons to all students who par cipated in the Gobondery Cup and Gobondery Shield last week. It was terrific to see all of our students display good sportsmanship throughout the day. Thank you to Mrs Williams, Mrs Adam and Mrs Radford for supervising the students.
