E-way bill system for interstate movement of goods has been implemented across India on
April 1 2018.
Till now 10,96,905 taxpayers have registered on e-Way Bill Portal which helps to curb tax
evasion and improve revenue.
2.Rupashree scheme
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched a scheme Rupashree .
The aim of this scheme is to which provide one time financial support of Rs 25,000 to the
marriages of Poor Girls.

ISRO had lost its contact with Communication satellite GSAT-6A, which is launched recently.
It was launched in Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit(GTO) by India's Geosynchronous Satellite
Launch Vehicle (GSLV-F08).
GSAT -6A is a communication satellite designed to provide mobile communication service via
multi beam coverage.
2.Delhi roll-outs BS-VI fuel.
New Delhi becomes the first city to roll-out the Bharat State –VI fuel in the country.
The aim of this roll out is to curb the raising level of air pollution.
The difference between existing BS-IV and current BS-VI is presence of Sulphur.
The current BS-VI will release 80% less sulphur comparing to BS-IV, from 50ppm to 10 ppm
(Parts per million)
3.Multi Modal Logistic Park
Multi modal Logistic park has been inaugurated at Balli station near Madgaon, Goa.
It helps to reduce the time as well as cost of transportation.
4.Tiangong-1:

Union cabinet has given its nod in agreement on cooperation in Food safety and related
areas between India and Afghanistan.
It was signed between Food Safety & Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), Ministry of Health

2.Agreement between Indian Army and HDFC Bank
Indian Army has signed agreement with HDFC bank regarding the defence Salary package.

3.NIRF Rankings 2018:
As per the national institutional ranking framework (NIRF)ranking Indian Institute of Science
(IISc) Bengaluru bagged the overall best institute in India.
Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT-M) adjudged the best engineering college in
India.
Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad (IIM-A) is the best management institution in

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that there was 20 % growth in construction of National

NASA successfully tested the Mars landing parachute called The Advanced Supersonic
Parachute Inflation Research Experiment (ASPIRE).

1.Protection of Human Rights (Amendments) Bill, 2018
Union Cabinet has given its nod to approval for the Protection of Human Rights
(Amendments) Bill, 2018 for better protection and promotion of human rights.
The amendment makes National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and State Human Rights
Commission (SHRC) more compliant with the Paris Principle concerning autonomy,
independence, and more to effectively protect and promote Human rights.
It will help to strengthen the Human Rights institution, which makes more effectively
discharge their duties and will ensure the protection of rights relating to life, liberty, equality
and dignity of the individual.
Features of Amendment(as Per official release – source PIB)
It Proposed “National Commission for Protection of Child Rights” as deemed Member of the
Commission;
To add a woman Member in the composition of the Commission;
To enlarge the scope of eligibility and scope of selection of Chairperson, National Human
Rights Commission as well as the State Human Rights Commission; and
To incorporate a mechanism to look after the cases of human rights violation in the Union
Territories.
To amend the term of office of Chairperson and Members of National Human Rights
Commission and State Human Rights Commission to make it in consonance with the terms
of Chairperson and Members of other Commissions.
About Paris Principle:
Paris Principle is set of international standards framed and guides the work of Human rights
Institutions across the world.
Paris Principle which were adopted on 1993 in United Nation General Assembly.

1.RH300 sounding rocket
The RH300 Sounding Rocket developed by Vikram Sarabhai Space Center (VSSC),
Thiruvananthapuram launched successfully.
It was launched from Thumba Equatorial Rocket launching Station (TERLS) for atmospheric
studies.
It is part of the Sounding Rocket Experiment (SOUREX) programme of VSSC , which utilises
RH300 sounding rocket to study the equatorial E and Lower ionosphere region of
atmosphere.
It helps to improve the available atmospheric data and used for tropical weather prediction.
It also measures the neutral wind in the dynamo region (which is 85 and 200 km altitude
from earth) of equatorial ionosphere and perform cross validation using Tri Methyl
Aluminium (TMA).
Note:
TMA are used to study the neutral winds in the lower Ionosphere.
2.Oxytocin Banned.
Central Government has banned the import of Oxytocin to stop misuse of livestock industry.

It is banned due to misuse of Oxytocin by some dairy owners and farmers to improve milk
production and increase the size of vegetables, also in some overcrowded hospitals it is used
for speed up deliveries for pregnant women.
What is Oxytocin?
Oxytocin is segregated by Pituitary Gland.
It is a hormonal injection used widely in dairy, agriculture and horticulture areas for increase
the production.
It is also used for uterine contraction and augmentation of labour in women during delivery,
also helps to prevent post-delivery bleeding.
3.Exercise Gaganshakti 2018:
Indian Air force conducting one of the biggest combat exercise along Pakistan, China borders called
Gaganshakti 2018 from 8th April to 22nd April.
4.Gobardhan Yojana
Central Government set to launch “Gobardhan Yojana” scheme nationally from Haryana’s
Karnal region on April 30 2018.
Gobardhan Yojana is the scheme to convert the cattle dung and solid waste into manure and
bio gas.

solid waste into compost and biogas

Recently Reserve Bank of India has asked all banks to link its core banking solution with
SWIFT(Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunications) interbank messaging
system by April 30.
About SWIFT.
SWIFT is a messaging networks that financial institution use to securely transmit information
and instructions through an identification codes.
SWIFT Codes mostly used for international wire transfers which consists of 8 to 11
alphanumeric characters.
It is founded in 1973, headquarters in La Hulpe, Belgium.
International Organisation of Standardization which approves the creation of SWIFT Codes.

Global Logistics Summit 2018 was held in New Delhi, with the aim to improve logistics and

1.RBI switches back to GDP model
Reserve Bank of India has switch backed to Gross Domestic product (GDP) based measure to
calculate the Growth Estimates, from Gross Value added (GVA) methodology .
GVA methodology was adopted by government for Growth estimates from January 2015 , it
also changed the base year to 2018 from January 2018.
The Basic Difference between GDP and GVA is that the GVA gives growth estimates from
producer (supply side )and GDP gives growth estimates from consumer side (demand side).
About GDP:
Gross Domestic product means the total value of final Goods and services produced over a specific
period of time within the boundary of country.
About GVA:
Gross Value added is a measure of total output and income of the country.
It is the total value of final Goods and services produced in the country after deducting cost
of inputs and raw materials that used for producing those goods and services.

The New class of antibiotics to kill bacteria has been discovered by scientist called
Odilorhabdins.
Odilorhabdins produced by symbiotic bacteria found in soil-dwelling nematode worms that
colonise insects for food .

The 2 new languages Walmiki and Malhar has been discovered by Hyderabad Univeristy.
Walmiki was spoken in Koraput district of Odisha and border district of Andhra Pradesh.
Analysis said that Walmiki does not belong to particular family of languages.
The Walmiki speaking community claims that this language is descent from poet Valmiki.
Malhar spoken in small hamlet in Odihsa , which is 165 km away from Bhubaneswar.

Researchers found that the 26 % of Nitrogen present in the ecosystem are sourced from

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully launches the IRNSS-1I navigation
satellite from Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.
It was launched in orbit by using PSLV-C41 launch Vehicle.
IRNSS-1I will replace IRNSS-1A due to its three rubidium atomic clocks failed to work.

Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System is a regional navigation satellite system
developed by India to provide accurate position information services to users across the
country and the region extending upto an area of 1,500km.
Till date ,there are seven satellites launched in IRNSS Series they are, IRNSS-1A, 1B, 1C,
ID,1E, 1F and IG.
It is designed to provide 2 types of services standard positioning service and restricted
service. Standard positioning service will provide to all users and restricted service is for
authorised users.
IRNSS will work similar like GPS(Global Positioning system) of US, Galileo of Europe, Russia’s
Glonass, Quasi Zenith Satellite System of Japan and Beidou of China.
Some of the application of IRNSS are Terrestrial, Aerial and marine navigation, disaster
management, Vehicle tracking and fleet management, Navigation aid and more.

Central Government‟s Price Support System (PSS) under National Agricultural Cooperative
Marketing Federation of India (NAFED) has been extended to the pulse-Growing farmers of
Tamil Nadu.
NAFED will directly purchase the pulses from farmers when the Market price is lower than
the minimum support price (MSP) provided by Government.
For example- if the market price is Rs 42 and the MSP is Rs 50 then the PSS will directly
purchase the pulses from Farmers to reduce their loses.

A removal motion should signed by 100 member of lok Sabha or 50 members of Rajya
Sabha.
It should be given to Speaker / Chairman and they may reject or admit.
If it is admitted then Speaker/Chairman has to constitute the three member committee to
investigate the charges.
Committee should comprise of Chief justice or Supreme court Judge, Chief justice of high
Court and distinguished jurist.
If the committee finds the judge is guilty then the impeachment motion has to pass in both
houses.
It should be passed by Special majority in each house of parliament.

Offenders Ordinance 2018 which helps to prevent the economic offenders from evading the

The total value of 100 crore or more will come under the purview of this bill.
Features of the Bill.
The bill will force the fugitive to return to India to face the trial.

Sunderban Reserve Forest is likely to declare as Ramsar site soon.
Sunderban Reserve forest is a tiger reserve and biosphere reserve in India which spread across
4,260 sq.km with around 2,000 sq.km is mangrove forest and Creeks.
Sunderban Reserve forest is partly in West Bengal and Bangladesh. It is part of Ganges Delta.
Sunderbans Mangrove forest is the largest mangrove forest in the world.
There are currently 26 sites recognised as Ramsar Wetland sites.
About Ramsar Convention:
Ramsar Convention is an intergovernmental Treaty adopted in 1971 at Ramsar in Iran.
The objective of treaty is national and international cooperation to conserve and better use of
wetlands.
India joined the treaty on 1982.

Union Government has removed Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958 from Meghalaya

critical thermal power project which will expected to commissioned by 2019-21.
The 5 super critical Thermal Power projects are North Chennai TPP with capacity of 800
MW, Ennore SEZ TPP with 1,320 MW, Ennore Expansion TPP with 660 MW, Uppur TPP in
Ramanathapuram district with 6000 MW , Udangudi TPP in Thoothukudi district with 1,320
MW Capacity.
Other power projects are Kadaladi Solar power project in Ramanathapuram district with 500
MW and Kundah Pumped storage hydroelectric project in Nilagiri district with 500 MW
