Course Description

• This course familiarizes students with the subject of transportation engineering. The course includes Airports Engineering, Railways Engineering and Coastal Engineering covering different aspects of civil airports and structural design of runways/ taxiways pavements on ports and basic elements, features, functioning etc of ports and railways.

Course Objectives• Basic understanding of all aspects of location, planning

and designing of airports with specific reference to runways, taxiways and surrounding areas to the extent a civil engineer is concerned.

• A clear concept of geometric standards of runways/ taxiways and drainage designing for airports.

• Basic knowledge of natural sea phenomenon, harbour works and port functioning.

• Basic knowledge of functioning of railway and a clear concept of elements of railway station and track.
