Why is it important to know why the Women’s Soccer Club started?

To know why the WSC is here To understand why the GI Program was

initiated To see why the GI Program plays an integral

part of the history & future of the WSC

With that knowledge, it follows suit that by getting to know each other, WSC members are more willing to reach out and help other WSC community of friends – not just the ones we play with each week. We find strength through numbers to show our support for each other.

How did the Club start? (click box to start interview from

2010)

People got to know me & then wanted to help. Thus the WSC was born.

Some misconceptions about the WSC and the GI ProgramI just want to come, play soccer and be left

alone. WSC is not just a league. We are a club with many divisions. There are small expectations.

I already volunteer in MANY other ways. Why should I volunteer here too? You do NOT need to volunteer. If you’d like to, that’s great! However, it is NOT expected. The GI Program is not a local community volunteer program. It is an in-house program to help other WSC members by getting involved one way or another in each others lives.

Why is it always centered around money? It is not. See list of things that members can do that is NOT centered around money. i.e. post different WSC event flyers on your Facebook page – no cost to you

donate a bag of old clothes to the Women’s Shelter – no cost to you

Why do we have club/friend/camaraderie fundraisers? We give enough money to the WSC. High Stakes Night is our only fundraiser to keep costs from going up for all members.

The other social events are to build camaraderie & friendship. The cost of events only covers the event expenses.

There has been a 50% decrease in grievances filed since policy has started.

There are three types of ways to get involved – examples The GI Program is member driven: 1. Donation Events

Donating packages of underwear for Nick Cavelli’s cause (team coach)

Donating clothes to the Women’s Shelter for Casey Shearing’s cause

2. Support a WSC member or club/cause/event Post event flyers/invites on fb page Attend Chili Cook-off for Sue Carini’s cause

3. Camaraderie/Social relationship building Attend Pub Crawl Attend High Stakes Night

THANK YOU for GETTING INVOLVED!

At the end of the indoor sessions and the outdoor sessions, we will ask for a “GI update” from all TLC/GI team reps.

This will avoid scrambling on Nov. 1st to make sure people are caught up.

The easiest way for a team TLC/GI to keep track of their teams GI PTs is by filling in the GI spreadsheet form and updating it as often as needed.

Then email your pdf fillable form to your League

TLC/GI rep.

(see 2012 GI Form )

No sharing of GI PTs

All players on the roster except those as "inactive" need to earn their 4 GI points after 2 sessions. So those players that rarely come but want to stay involved should be changed to inactive and can then be left on the roster without needing GI points.

Points will be tracked periodically through the year to avoid a panic come October

If a players ball is not green by Nov. 1st, the player won’t be able to play the next sessions until that fee has been paid in full

There is no proration for partial hours

$50 Buyout Fee Due – we’d rather members get involved

"The Women's Soccer Club is a great organization that gives people the opportunity to play the world's greatest game!

I've played soccer my whole life. The game has brought me joy, good health, a competitive fire and - dare I say - things more valuable than goals and assists. When I reflect on my career, I think of the people who helped me get on the field and my heart swells with gratitude.

The Women's Soccer Club helps people get on the field. I'm a huge fan."
