A Note From
The Executive Artistic Director
WELCOME to the
TITUSVILLE PLAYHOUSE And BRIGHT STAR!
PRODUCTION NOTES
The play jumps in time between 1923-1924 and 1945-1946 in North Carolina.
It is based on a true incident.
Written above is the entire first page of the script when you open the cover.
Usually, I just zoom past all of that information, but this time it has stuck with
me. I would add to that description Love, Loss, Life, & HOPE. Bright Star is
based on life! Directing this show has touched me in many ways. First it
moved me at how incredible the story is and relates to the loss and loves in my
very own life. No, this is not the story or experiences of my life, but I can
relate to the hope and yearning expressed in Bright Star. Each night I have
watched this show I have seen something and felt something different. I knew
the show would move me, but I never expected to be touched emotionally the
way this show has. Possibly it is the yearning for those simple days of growing
up in the South that this show resonates for me. Or it could just be the fact that
in todays age I am longing for a simpler time and slower days. I do hope you
find your own joy and journey as you watch Bright Star. There are so many
layers that I am sure one will resonate with each and every one of you.
You will also be happy to know that once off stage the cast wears a mask
100% from entering the building until you see them entering the stage. You,
Our Casts, Tech Crew, Volunteers, and Staff are my highest priority, that we all
stay safe and well. So, I want to THANK YOU for adhering to the safety
precautions as we keep not only ourselves and our fellow neighbors safe!
I would also like to thank YOU for your support and Thank you again most
importantly for the sharing of your time and your trust in me! I will see you at
BEEHIVE, the 60’s Musical!
