Plantation Method

1. Dig the soil up to 10 inches deep with a spade to prepare for plantation. And then put 1- 2 inches compost or manure into that soil.




2. Plant the Gerberas into the soil. Make sure that each seedling is planted with a distance of 18-24inch between them.

Also make sure that the crown of the plants is not totally covered by soil. As it tends to

suffocate the plants. (Crown part is just where the main stem and the roots meet).




3. Soak the roots thoroughly and water the plants regularly. Let the soil dry before you water the plant the next time. Avoid overhead watering.




4. Fertilize your Gerbera daisies in monthly intervals for best results. They need fertilization regularly to keep energy up in maintaining the flowers.




5. Natural mulch like compost, bark or shredded leaves should be spread around the plant during spring. Care must be taken that mulch does not cover the crown of the plant.




6. Cut off stems of the wilting flowers and seed heads with the shears. Remove blooms as soon as they wilt.




7. Dig the soil and replant the Gerbera plant when you find that the crown is sinking under the surface of the soil. Dig the soil carefully without damaging the roots. You can use garden fork.
