The AMMA Resource People National Conference is the largest and most valuable annual event for resource industry professionals across human resources, employee relations and all other workforce-related fields.
On 6-7 August 2015, I look forward to welcoming you among hundreds of industry leaders, people professionals and political guests at this preeminent resource industry event.
Hosted by your national resource industry employer group, the 2015 AMMA Resource People National Conference focuses on the theme of Engagement as our industry continues to manage its transition from heavy project construction to a long-term period of production.
Our two-day program features respected industry thought leaders, senior ‘people practitioners’ and Australia’s highest level of policy makers and regulators. Coupled with our practical sessions, this impressive line-up delivers valuable advice and expertise that can be implemented across the employment, people leadership and workplace policy aspects of your individual businesses.
Day One of our program opens with a strong leadership theme, headed by an address from a member of the Abbott Government on its plans for supporting our sector. This is followed by keynote presentations from two chief executives leading exciting new projects - Roy Hill’s Barry Fitzgerald and Vanessa Guthrie of Toro Energy.
Delegates can then partake in either our human resources or industrial relations concurrent sessions, featuring everything from major project workforce panels through to intense discussions on IR policy reform and practitioner workshops.
In the afternoon we’ll continue with an economic and workforce analysis by one of KPMG’s senior partners, before a number of health and wellbeing discussions including on managing mental health in our sector.
With the first day complete, we will all have a chance to unwind, network and celebrate the leading initiatives and success stories of our industry with the AMMA Gala Dinner and Industry Awards Ceremony.
Day Two of the conference kicks off with a highly-anticipated keynote presentation from Boral executive Bill Fisher, providing the inside story on the construction supplier’s battle with the CFMEU. We’ll then get a unique update on Indigenous training and employment with David Wirrpanda and the directors of Aboriginal Maritime.
Another of our special keynote speakers, Transfield Services chairman and president of Chief Executive Women, Diane Smith-Gander, will present on opportunities and challenges for contractors in the current market conditions, as well as her perspectives on female participation in our sector.
Our morning then wraps up with a panel discussion on all things external affairs, community engagement and maintaining a ‘social licence to operate’, before motivation strategy and work design expert Dr Jason Fox takes us through his groundbreaking “Future of Work” framework.
For the final climax to our stellar program, AMMA has secured ABC personality Tony Jones to host a resource industry version of his hit program, Q&A. Featuring political leaders among industry executives, this unforgettable lunch event offers you an opportunity to have your burning questions answered.
As Australia’s consistent national advocate on industry regulation, workplace, employment, skills and migration policy, AMMA is pleased to offer you an opportunity to attend this outstanding event.
I look forward to seeing many AMMA members at our 2015 Resource People National Conference as we consider how to further the significant contribution our industry makes to Australia’s economy, employment and the broader national wellbeing.
