The Tingira boys have come together in strength, numbers and in uniform we look strong. Many other Associations in Sydney have stood back and just gone “WOW” where did these guys come from? Little did they know we have been around since day one!

the lads ‘in uniform’ to front and sides please.

•8 of last 10 ANZAC Days in Sydney it has rained. Few pulled out plastic rain coats, (all colours) most of us were ‘drowned rats’, best we all look the same and the wet look went over very well for TV and the crowd. No raincoats if possible please! Perth boys were brilliant in the wet look of 2016!

ANZAC Day… Our Very Own Day

‘Tingira Boys’ are up and about again this year for the annual ANZAC Day march. The Tingira banner is going up in six capital cities and a regional town around our nation on this most precious day for our veteran community. As a national association to be truly united remembering our past veterans this is our proudest moment when I stand behind our flag as the President.

Anzac Day is our most sacred day of the year. The one day we get most of our former JR’s together under the Tingira banner and renew old friendships and make new ones. This year we have another 150 odd new members back on board the good ship Tingira. Many will make their way to the capital cities looking for the ‘Tingira banner’ for a first time, make them welcome, we are all still very close shipmates even in 2019.

This day is also our107th birthday for the commissioning of HMAS Tingira on this very special day on 25 April 1912. We will sing happy birthday at some stage in the day and celebrate nationally! As an association we celebrate our JR birthday on July 13, the day of the first intake at HMAS Leeuwin back in 1960. If you haven’t heard we are celebrating our 60 years back at Leeuwin in July 2020, watch tour website for more details in near future.

However we must remember this is ‘commemoration not celebration,' it’s not an offical holiday to just get smashed at the local dig after the march, Tingira Boys, we ‘Will Remember Them’ this is our duty on this day.

I will journey from Queensland to Sydney with my wife Annie, march with the NSW JR’s once again after a sojourn to WA last year.. On completion, I will officiate the

Tingira Australia Association Annual General Meeting at the Primus Hotel, Pitt Street, with our executive committee presenting reports and correspondence for the meeting.

Big credit again to Tingira Secretary, Mark Lee, and the statewide LJR’s who has once again pulled all the ropes to bring us together at local levels.

North Queensland have joined the Tingira ranks with our newest LJR, Rod Howard, mustering the troops under the new Tingira banner in Cairns.

Tasmania has a volunteer who will come on board next year and Darwin, well, I might have to make a fishing trip up north and do some local recruiting!

It's a massive ask of Mark and the fellow LJR’s, they have taken the lead roles to volunteer and muster the troops, then run a re-union drink after the march, credit to you all. I have a fresh bottle ‘Pussers Rum’ for the Sydney lads, bound to be cool and possibly wet going on past form, tots all round from 9am!

Enjoy the march lads, sing happy birthday Tingira and please make a new friend or two amongst your ranks, that is what this association is all about, renew old and making new friendships and please get your partners in on the day, it’s a great reunion day for us all.

Hello Gents,

I trust you are all well and looking forward to marching Wednesday April 25th.

It’s 2018 and time for our fourth ANZAC march under the Tingira banner, time does fly.

After the event last year, we again start the day where we are invited to join the Leeuwin Dawn Service at 0545 and I hope you will consider joining us.

From there it will be a drive or train ride to Perth, I will have room for a couple in my car and if we are more we can shuttle to Freo station.

We are at 8 currently in number for the day so if you want to give your oppo’s a push we would love to double our number.

On the day I will have complimentary poppies and a very small number of ties for purchase at $35 ea. (cash only)

We step off as our time comes with the march starting at 0915 (15 min later than last year) and I will be at the fall in point from about 0830.

The Australian Defence Force will step off from the corner of Barrack Street and St Georges Terrace at 9.15am, followed by veteran-carrying vehicles and military jeeps, and the Ex-Services Unit, Corps, Regimental Associations. The March will head east along St Georges Terrace, turn right onto Victoria Avenue and into Langley Park to disperse.

We are in the Naval Section C , the last C section squad. Fall in West of Barrack Street.

Well done to the fellas that carried the regalia last three years, but we have Cadets assisting with the banner and flag this year, well it has been requested.

The march is due to finish in time for the Commemorative service in the Supreme Court gardens at 1100.

With the RSL still under construction a few made their war to Rigby’s @ 221 St Georges Tce last year and this year we will do the same (only place in CBD serving beer before 1200) before heading down by midday for our function at the Lucky Shag.

The choice is yours Rigby’s or service.

I'm please to confirm we will be again at the Lucky Shag on Barrack Street Jetty from midday.

We have secured two tables and I have put on a few smally eats also and a new company that has its roots with a few of our Boys

has generously put $300 over the bar.
